We arrived at Amicaola Falls State Park at 5:30pm.  Stopped at the visitors center to register.  We had to go to the Amicaola Lodge to register for campground site.  Beautiful camping area, very clean with RV, trailer sites and tent sites were recently made.
John and I had a difficult time trying to park the motor home in out site with a pontoon boat hooked onto the back end of the RV.  Finally got it parked, but the RV was on a slope.  I had good practice walking up hill before ever starting the hike.
Jay Abercrombie has joined me to hike the AT through GA.  I met his daughter, Chau, her husband, Thomas and little 3 year old Victorie.

Started hiking approach trail to Springer Mt.  We planned to hike to Nimblewill Gap.  A total of about 6 miles.  Temperature was 70 degrees, bright and sunny.
We met many day hikers and a few thru-hikers.  I met one thru-hiker that had a soft cast on his foot.  He said he had hurt it while celebrating his start of the AT.
A woman was cross training came zooming behind us and was long gone.
     - Jay and I had stopped to talk to some other hikers and heard an awful commotion.  She had fallen on a rock, skinned her knee, and twisted her ankle.  I stopped her as she came by to ask her about her accident.  She was hobbling, the leg and ankle was already swollen and very painful.  I gave her some Neosporin to rub on the open flesh.
Finished hiking at 4:00pm.  Thomas came to pick us up and take us back to camp.
