What happened last MeetingEaster Theme There was a surprise guest appearance by the Easter Bunny, who entered through the window and took on the role of Toastmaster for the evening. Wordmaster Garth told us there are three kinds of people - the "mowers of lawns" (regimented), the "poisoners of wells" (moaners and groaners) and the "uplifters" who enhance life. Our word for the evening was "Enhance". It was used by several people during the meeting. Quote Joyce gave us the definition of a cynic. "A man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing." Round Robin Del began a story about missing Easter eggs. Each Toastmaster had to continue the story, beginning with the last word that the previous person uttered. Raffle Lenore donated items for an Easter
weekend of gardening. They included a large plant pot, secateurs ...and
chocolate.
Table Topics Narda introduced the topics... 1."Do you prefer chocolate or candy easter eggs?" David prefers chocolate. 2. "How do long do keep a palm after Palm Sunday?" Lenore said she would keep it for a year, then burn it. 3. "What does Easter mean to you?" Monica spoke abut the religious significence, and family time. 4. "What is your favourite proverb?" Liz quoted her favourite adage which ended... "Keep your eye on the donut and not the hole." 5. "What one thing would you like to change in your house?" Trish said that by the time she finished making changes, it would be a different house. 6. "Why will you be going to the
beach on Good Friday to watch the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht
Race?"
Garth said he will be going to see the figureheads.
Speeches Only one speech this time. 1. "Time to go Worming" It was Andrew's 4th speech in
the Communication and Leadership book, "Show what you mean.".
