Walking through Granda at night

After dinner, we got caught up in procession crowds, so we followed this crowd through side streets to get back to our hotel.

These people were burning large torches on their balcony up on the cliff (seemed like lighted torches were a tradition while watching the processions)

The Alhambra at night (view from the street of our hotel)

The Court of Myrtles (looking at what you would see if you came to see the Sultan - through that door was his throne room)
spain01482
Amazing detail on the walls - the saying on the bottom in Arabic is "only Allah is victorious"
spain01483
Court of the Lions (named for the fountain which was a gift from the Jewish residents to the Sultan)
spain01484
Detail of the archway - We tried to imagine what this place would look like if all the original paint was still there.
spain01485
These lions used to tell time, there are 12 of them (representing the 12 tribes of Israel) and each would spit out water for one hour at at time
