Walking through Granda at night |
After dinner, we got caught up in procession crowds, so we followed this crowd through side streets to get back to our hotel. |
These people were burning large torches on their balcony up on the cliff (seemed like lighted torches were a tradition while watching the processions) |

Alhambra Palacios Nazaries in the Court of Myrtles |
The Court of Myrtles (looking towards where people would enter) |
The Court of Myrtles (looking at what you would see if you came to see the Sultan - through that door was his throne room) |
Amazing detail on the walls - the saying on the bottom in Arabic is "only Allah is victorious" |
Court of the Lions (named for the fountain which was a gift from the Jewish residents to the Sultan) |
Detail of the archway - We tried to imagine what this place would look like if all the original paint was still there. |
These lions used to tell time, there are 12 of them (representing the 12 tribes of Israel) and each would spit out water for one hour at at time |
