So it begins...
The precise origins of Andrew Smythe are shrouded in mystery. His exact place of birth and lineage is known only to the High Council of the Dwarvin Priests of Faerun and Crazy Train insiders. He is not of this Earth which helps to explain is amazing talent.

He was born in Faerun, which is a planet in an alternate dimension known as the Forgotten Realm. It was the turbulent time of the “Shadow Wars on Amn”, the Flaming Fist was gaining control over the land and The Iron Throne was rising from the ashes of The Merchant League. He is the son of an obscure half-elf thief and Bhaal, the Lord of Murder. The blood of both of his parents coursing through his veins ensures he is a unique and ultimately gifted hockey player. Bhaal gives him the strength and constitution of a god and makes him impervious to the effects of pain. The elf blood running through him gives him the gift of having a natural and mortal enemy from birth, but he is unique his enemies are not Ogres, Orcs, Gibberlings or Knolls. His enemy is a creature even more vial and disgusting, the Ottawa Senator.

His power made him a target for gods and mortals alike so at birth he was taken under the protection of Arch Wizard Elminster. He brought him into the safety of the walls of Candlekeep, a fortress on the Sword Coast. When evil forces came too close Elminster was forced to take drastic measures to protect Andrew. He opened a dimensional door and sent Andrew to Earth through a temporal vortex. He arrived on this planet in the arctic tundra of northern Canada. He might not have survived the elements had he not be discovered by a wolf known as Mononoke, a friend of Elminster and a god in her own right. Living amongst the wolves of Mononoke’s pack he learned to brave the cold weather, the disciplines of team work, the psychology of the pack mentality, and the ancient art of blocking shots. It is believed that after years of living in the wilderness he was discovered by government agents and subjected to chemical and genetic testing, a major part of the Canadian Junior Hockey Program. This testing enhanced his powers as a hockey player physically and mentally.

He was scouted out by SGHA management in the summer of 2000, and he even competed in the pre-SGHA era which is an exclusive club. He quickly became a founding member of the Crazy Train.

Favorite player influences: Dmitry Yushkevich, Danny Markov, Bryan Berard and Mats Sundin.

Signature Move: Bare Leg Kick Save

Known For: The shot-blocking master, bar none. Takes shots on the bare skin of his shins regularly. His legs are seemingly impervious to pain. Fans argue whether he has nerves in his legs or not. Is a part of the most intense rivalry in SGHA history; Nick vs. Smythe. Extreme Defensive concentration. Works on sheer determination. Saying "Do it, Doug!". zangief.gif (16153 bytes)

Weakness: Lack of decent skates seemed to hurt his overall performance and effectiveness until he got new ones. Can't shoot nearly as well in games as in warm-ups, although it is believed secret off-season training and hypnosis will end this trend and make him an even more prolific scorer in games.

Career highlights: Winning the Solar Roller Cup in August to take the first Jewel in the coveted Quadruple Qrown. Getting new skates. Scoring the series winning goal at the Fall Brawl: War Games. Becoming the world renown "Greatest Equipment manager in SGHA History" after acquiring the new Zed Balls, to be used in '01 Spring season. Being promoted to Equipment Tzar by the Development Dictator.

Quotes Engraved in Stone:

"Next year, I'm telling you ... I believe in this team and this organisation. ... All the heartache we went through, all the losing, all the pain, it's going to make it that much sweeter when we turn this thing around"

- A-Train after losing the Fall Championships. .

"I just try to protect myself and the best way to do that is fight back. Besides, if people are going to take liberties with our guys, we're going to stand up for them. We're a close-knit team."

- A-Train after winning the Fall Brawl: War Games game in December 2000.

“Players have trouble scoring on that goalie, he’s one of the best two in the league if not the best. He rarely lets in a goal that way, but when I was alone infront I knew I was going to score and wanted to make it special. The great ones never settle for the sure thing, why should I?”

- A-Train on his game winning goal scored through the impenetrable Backwards Manitoba.
