-Punctuation, spelling, capitals, webbing and paragraph writing skills will be our focus through the use of our agendas (accuracy in copying messages that model good writing form) and we will also pursue this worthy self-editing goal soon in our personal dictionary/spellers.

-Begin working on paragraph 1 of our Great Canadian Mail Race letter: About Me (Students will start writing a letter composed of 4 paragraphs: About Me, About My School, About My Community (Calgary) and a wrap-up paragraph.  We will write each paragraph according to the following process: 1) create a plan 2) write first draft 3) self edit first draft (using C.O.P.S.- reading the paragraph over to improve use of Capitals, Organization, Punctuation and Spelling) 4) peer edit first draft (using C.O.P.S.) 5) teacher edit first draft 6) if necessary, write second draft.  Once all 4 paragraphs have gone through this process we will work on typing out our final, published copy.

Monday: 1) Math: Since our written unit test is tomorrow, we are reviewing by selecting three questions to redo from each page studied.  2) We began preparing for the Great Canadian Mail Race today in language arts.  3) We also went over our journal entries and Mr. Myers’ expectations and suggestions for improvement.  4) My math workbook will be evaluated tomorrow.  *School photo forms are due tomorrow morning.  *Special Lunch forms are due by this Thursday morning.

Tuesday: 1) Math: Today I wrote the Addition and Subtraction unit test and I feel that I performed poorly/okay/well/superbly.  2) We are working hard as a class to follow classroom and school routines.  *Thank you, Austin, for the cool, purple pencils!

Wednesday: 1) Math: MQ53 #1-12, 19-26; I am bringing home my math notebook evaluation for you to see my improvements.  2) We made short circuits and created our own switches in science today.  3) L.A.: I am to complete my first draft of my first paragraph of my G.C.M.R. letter by Friday morning. 
Thursday: 1) Math: MQ54 #1-10, 17-22, 29, 30; MQ55 #1-6, 25-30  2) We have library tomorrow so I should remember any books that I have taken out.  3) Please sign my math unit test that I received today.  4) I have some rather interesting art homework to share with you.  5) I am coming home with an important notice from the school’s office.  *Tomorrow is my last opportunity to submit this week’s P.O.T.W..  *Thank you, Austin, for the cool, colourful pencils!  *Tomorrow is my last opportunity to submit my Problem Solving poster that was due on October second.
Friday: 1) Math: MQ57 odd numbers 1-41  2) There is a new P.O.T.W. for next week.  3) The plan for my second Great Canadian Mail Race paragraph is due on Monday.
