L.A.

-Punctuation, spelling, capitals, webbing and paragraph writing skills will be our focus through the use of our agendas (accuracy in copying messages that model good writing form) and we will also pursue this worthy self-editing goal soon in our personal dictionary/spellers.

-Finish working on paragraph 3 of our Great Canadian Mail Race letter: About My City

-In the school’s computer lab, we will finish typing out our letters from beginning to end.

(Students have written a letter composed of 4 paragraphs: About Me, About My School, About My Community (Calgary) and a wrap-up paragraph.  We have written each paragraph according to the following process: 1) create a plan 2) write first draft 3) self-edit first draft (using C.O.P.S.- reading the paragraph over to improve use of Capitals, Organization, Punctuation and Spelling) 4) peer-edit first draft (using C.O.P.S.) 5) teacher edit first draft 6) if necessary, write second draft.

-Journal Entry: no new journal entry for this week while our attention is focussed on the G.C.M.R.

-French this week will be replaced by testing in English language arts (oral reading, reading comprehension and Edmonton Spelling Test)

-We are learning our first art techniques, the use of fonts, misting and wet-on-wet painting by applying these techniques to our daily work assignments in order to embellish them in preparation for grade 6 achievement and to present our work in a prideful manner.

Wednesday: 1) Math: We eliminated Tuesday’s work from our syllabus as it was superfluous to our learning.  2) I write my math test this Friday morning.  3) Ask me if I was able to print out my G.C.M.R. letter today.  4) I received a new science assignment that is due next Thursday.  5) I am to finish my Tapa cloth art project by the end of school this Friday.
Thursday: 1) My special multiplication assignment is due tomorrow.  2) We have library tomorrow.  3) Our next Hepatitis B immunization is this coming Tuesday morning.  4) Tonight is my last opportunity to prepare for tomorrow’s unit test in multiplication.
Friday: 1) I wrote my multiplication unit test today and I feel that I performed poorly/well/superbly.  2) There is no P.O.T.W. next week.  3) I should consider contributing to our classroom’s first S.T.O.R.E. soon.  4) I am coming home with a letter from the school’s office.  *I am coming home with my photograph and a letter from the school’s office.  *My Tapa Cloth art project is now overdue and has to be done by the time school begins on Monday.
