Welcome to the Problem Of The Week (P.O.T.W.)

NUMBER THEORY #2 (Multiples and Factors)

Okay, so there’s no such thing as the “Colossus” pizza... but you may wish there was after this P.O.T.W.!!! Mr. Myers has once again invited some friends to eat Jon’s pizza (do you like pizza as much as he does?).  He ordered 2 pizzas (let’s call them Scylla and Charybdis).  Scylla can be equally shared by either 2, 3, 4 or 6 friends.  Both Scylla and Charybdis together can be equally shared by 2, 4, 5 or 10 friends.  Here are your questions:

·        How many slices is Scylla cut into? (4 marks)

·        How many slices is Charybdis cut into? (5 marks)

·        BONUS: What kind of topping should Jon put on Scylla?  Hint: you need to do a little research on this one and I would suggest that you explain your choice of topping.

(1 mark)

TOTAL MARKS:           /9

REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOUR UNITS AND SHOW ALL YOUR WORK OR YOUR WORK WILL NOT BE CORRECT!!!

Have fun!
