Tutorial: Finding It Online
Not exactly sure how to find something on the Internet?  Here's a short tutorial that will help you choose a search engine or index and start using it.  This tutorial covers just the very basic concepts.  More experienced searchers will probably benefit from one of the tutorials below.  From the Yahoo! How-To web site.

Tutorial: Searching the Web
This tutorial discusses searching the web in three parts: the basics, beyond the basics, and advanced searching. With topics that are easy to understand, this tutorial is probably most useful for the beginning to intermediate searcher.  From the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education web site.

Tutorial: Guide to Effective Searching of the Internet
Here's a longer tutorial that discusses in 60 easy lessons more of the details on how to conduct an effective Internet search.  It includes such topics as choosing keywords, using Boolean operators such as AND and OR, pitfalls to avoid, and using specialty searches to find people, places, and recent news.  This tutorial is probably most useful to those who have some experience in searching the web.  From the CompletePlanet web site of the BrightPlanet company, whose mission is "to be the premier provider of Internet content infrastructure and search data to Web-enabled businesses."
