Out of the Muse's Way

ttto: 'Out of the Music's Way' by Cat Faber
I ponder, deliberate, wrestle and fight with the craft I consider my friend
It beckons me, taunting, just out of my grasp, then leaves me at sanity's end,
Voices speak clearly inside of my head, then vanish just as I begin,
The muse is my master, I wish it were faster to grant me a clear way in!Out of the muse's way my friend, letting the words have their say,
I wish I could open myself to the tale and get out of the muse's way.
I dreamt I was writing a story last night, creativity fled from my side
The characters wandered, the plot line had stalled, continuity ran off to hide,
I scream in my dream, and my muse she laughs, and we rustle and tussle and fight,
Then, suddenly prose like a waterfall flows through my hands and my heart takes flight!Out of the muse's way my friend, letting the words have their say,
I wish I could open myself to the tale and get out of the muse's way.Courses are over and workshops are done, my manuscript sits there, alone
I'm dying to pick up my notebook and pen, but writer's block's solid as stone,
If I could just let all the tension out and let creativity in
In concert we'd be, inspiration and me, oh! What wonderful tales we'd spin!
Out of the muse's way my friend, letting the words have their say,
I wish I could open myself to the tale and get out of the muse's way.
