Sorry but I havent been able to write much lately. All the animals were moved down on monday and we have been extremely busy getting everything going. Additionally, I have come down with the flu and all my spare time has been spent sleeping.
It has been raining hard the last three days which is good for the field but bad for construction. The mud on the farm roads is pretty bad and I use four wheel drive most of the time when getting grass. Next time you feel sorry for yourself at work, think of one of my haitian grass cutters, soaked to the bone and cutting grass 12 feet high with a machette in the rain on a muddy field.
We have five little calfs at the field now. One arrived this week and seems to be doing well. The calf Felicita rescued last week came down with pnemonia but survived thanks to some care and some help from Mr. Antibiotic.
The cows are still getting used to their new surroundings so production has not been what we hoped. Cows dont like change much and the last few weeks they have been moved twice, changes in feed, milking methods have taken a toll on them. It will be a while until they settle into the new home we have for them.
