After going through two house sites on the property, 7 plans and umpteen revisions we got the site cleared off and the foundation started. In the above rather awkward picture of myself, I am fighting off a swarm of red ants on my foot while Tiny watches with some amusement.
Digging the foundation in solid rock is a hard job. I am glad someone else is doing the work.
The foundation trench is dug and the rebar work has begun even with a few days of rain delays. It took a crew of 7 over a week to dig through the rock.
After a switch to a new and more reasonable contractor, the foundation is ready to be poured. This blury picture was taken from the new second floor deck on the shop. On the left are the gravel and blocks. The large black thing is a water tank. There is a nice rainbow in the background.
The foundation is poured. Seven men worked all day to mix and pour about 20 cubic meters of cement. Still doesnt make for very exciting pictures.
Blocks to floor level.
Starting to take shape.
Blocks are to beam level.
