In 2004, this was a totally new event, in a completely new location. It was also, I am told, the first time the National Trust had hosted a re-enactment event. The whole event was arranged and set up at very short notice after the committee of the original hosts, Colchester, failed to apply for the necessary funding for the show.
The show was a multi-period one, with representatives of a multitude of periods and cultures, including Ancient Greeks, Romans, Napoleonic soldiers, the American Civil War, and, of course, medieval. In 2004, Lion Rampant were not the only group on site covering the medieval period, so much socialising went on with Plessis Armouries, the Knights Hospitalers' camp and the archers of (I think) the Herbert Household.
The official list of performers, 2004:

Classical Greeks - The Hoplite Association;
Romans and Britons - The Vicus and Colchester Roman Society;
Medieval - The Knights Hospitallers, Lion Rampant and Herbert Household;
Tudor - Perrots Puppet Players;
C17th - The English Civil War Society;
C18th - New France & Old England;
Napoleonic - 2nd Battalion, 95th Rifles and Andy Smerden riding Mack;
American Civil War - The Southern Skirmish Association;
Victorian - Hands on History and the Heilbron Commando;
Edwardian - The Antarctic Adventurers;
WWII: Hogarth's HeroesCroix de Lorraine and .916 Grenadier-Regiment.

2004 was a small event, using just the furthest half of the lawns in front of the house. This year is expected to be much bigger, and a larger contigent is definitely going from the Lion Rampant, and probably from other groups too.
