In 2005 Huntingdon is celebrating the 800th anniversary of the awarding of its Charter of creation as a borough. | |
Huntingdon is an historic market town. It is also the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658). The town grew up around an important crossing of the River Great Ouse, then from the 16-18th C. it prospered as a coaching stop on the Great North Road. |

The old stone river bridge is said to be one of England's
finest medieval bridges. Close by the town is the Hinchingbrooke Country
Park and the National Hunt Racecourse.
