How to Role-Play

There are two main styles that we let you members use to role play in this RPG. The first I like to call "story writing" and the other I like to call "action writing". You may use either one or a combination of the two, or another style, if me, Jim, or another mod approves it. here are explanations of the two styles.

"Story Writing"

Story Writing is a style in which you act like you're writing a narrative story. It can be written in 1st or 3rd person format. Here is an example:
"I walked down the dark street. Lightposts cast a dim light that only deepened the shadows. Out of the darkness came a man in a black jumpsuit, a gun in his hand. He pointed it at me. I drew my own weapon as a dodged to the left. The sound of gunshots rang through the quiet night air. He feel to the ground, a bullet in his forehead....."

Usually they continue for a page to several pages long.

"Action Writing"

Here is Action Writing, a blend of 3rd person narrative and a dialouge. They usually aren't more than a page long and are meant to be continued by another character. Here is an example (stolen from Liz's Gundam RPG ^_^):
*Heero kicked at the shaft door, making a dent, but not fully breaking the door. He gave it one more good kick in the center and it finally gave way, falling to the floor below. Heero peered down and sighed.*

(Heero) I'm finally here...

*He quietly dropped to the ground and unfastened the holsters on in his hip, letting the "click" break the silence. Looking right and left he let his arms slip to his sides. Without warning a ear-splitting noise quickly sent his hands to cover his ears.*

(Heero) Argh... they know I'm here...

*The sound of thundering footsteps was heard in the distance as Heero broke into a run heading for the large object on the far right corner. The blast doors opened, revealing men with an all out arsenal of weapons. They opened fire and bullets went whizzing through the air toward Heero. He jumped a few metal crates and went into a rolling dive, coming to on his feet. He tugged at his guns and lifted his head to see what was to become of him. Firing like mad the men had no intention of letting the escapee live. Heero began returning fire, taking cover behind the metal crates. Round after round, Heero noticed that the guns were quickly losing their ammunition at a startling rate. Clips flew from the guns as he fired into the crowd of Red Star associates and soldiers. Some went down while others stood their ground, the ones dead being only replaced by two more in their place.*
