Blind Promises

There's a reason why my eyes
got hard for you to bear
within them was a promise
of a life that wasn't there

you'll be with no one after me
it's too much effort to put out
to get blind promises in return, but
it's something you can't breathe without.

I guess I should wear sunglasses so
you don't know what I'm looking at
and you won't get all broken-hearted, by
what you inflate deflated flat.

Don't you reason you like to watch me
when I'm calm, closed, and in middle of sleep?
why you're sad when I wake, you know down deep
I don't make promises that I can't keep.
