Half-Hearted
And you came down, perching yourself over me
and you asked why I run away from you
so why is it that I leave you empty
if I'm not there to sleep next to?
Pausing, you said a thousand words
told a tale without speaking at all
knowing I should not have looked up
into your eyes, you tore down the wall.
But half still standing, half chance
life is always half, love is never whole
I will sleep beside you some eve to come
and you'll see then the heart you stole.
Half-careful with the heart will never count
you will split it open at its crack
perching light in morn, when broken
I will never want it back.
