Silently Sitting On A Rock, Waiting

The reef extends far out
about fifty yards into the bay
at the end, a large, flat rock
is where I go to sit all day.

There are signs I can see from there
a certain silence that casts about visions
a soothing air around the tip of it
a calm retreat for creating decisions.

Flickering lights begin on the horizon
the moon draws the tide up high
I give my ankles to the cool water
lean back and give my face to the sky.

And I can smile from my heart
lend my mind over to the sea
silently sitting on a rock, waiting
for thoughts to catch up to me.
