B2K

The Boys Of The New Millennium (B2K) are J-Boog, Raz-B, Lil Fizz and Omarion. These guys can sing, dance, rap and write songs. And Omarion has been featured in a few television commercials for both McDonalds and Kellogs products. And yup, they’ll be sure to remind you of the group IMX. That's probably because Omarion is Batman's (Marques Houston of IMx) brother and J-Boog is Batman's cousin (and yes that makes Omarion and J-Boog cousins). B2K was pretty much discovered by Chris Stokes (the long-time manager of IMX and also Raz-B's cousin).

The group got the attention of many way before the release of their self-titled debut CD. During the summer of 2001, B2K toured as the opening act for Lil' Bow Wow and also appeared in Bow Wow's "Ghetto Girls" video. B2K was also making a name for themselves as they kept busy doing radio station visits, in-store autograph signings, magazine interviews, and guest spots on television. B2K has already added "Jenny Jones Show," "TEENick," BET's "106 and Park," MTV's "Mismissed," "Soul Train," and the Fox Family Channel's "Weekly Video Countdown" to their resumes.

B2K's sound has crossed all color, age, and catagory lines. The members say that they feel obligated to keep their lyrics clean so that they can set an example for their fans. That's probably why so may parents are feeling the group. B2K is the kind of group the whole family can sit down and vibe to, and they believe that is definitely a positive point in their direction. Each one of B2K's members brings something special to the group. Lil Fizz brings his energetic raps while the other three members smooth, lush voices make their songs hard to resist.

The album's first single, "Uh Huh," was a huge hit and stayed at the top of the charts for weeks. The guys spit out two albums, each of them going platinum. Together they rode the charts, sold out concerts and won countless awards. Their secon album Pandemonium was also a huge hit with banging joints like "Bump, Bump, Bump" and "Girlfriend," a song that produced a hot video that featured Will Smith, Ron Isley and Vivica Fox. The album featured five different covers including limited edition, individually signed covers of each member.

B2K fans never tired of the guys dance moves, smooth voices or the group's originality, and they wanted more. And they got it with the releases of B2K's Christmas album, two DVD's the group's "Greatest Hits" and "B2K The Remixes Vol. 2" cds.

The guys even worked on a movie together, "You Got Served," which is a film that also stars Marques Houston, Lil Kim, and Steve Harvey. They did a track with Fabolous on the soundtrack "Bada Boom" that was a club banger. The dancing in that movie was off the hook and it helped the group gain more notoriety.

Unfortunately, like some bands that blow up seemingly overnight, troubles plagued the group and there was a split just about the time the movie was released. Three of the group members split from management, Lil Fizz, Raz-B and J-Boog. Omarion continues to work with Chris Stokes, the band's original manager.

The other guys have been quoted in the media as saying they were "financially raped" but Omarion says it's just not true. But he's got other things on his mind. He's just about done with his his solo album, which will show a more mature side.

The potential first single is called "I'm Young, But I'm Ready," a song he says is dedicated to all the ladies. The Underdogs (Backstreet Boys, Ruben Studdard) produced the track, and Omarion is also trying to get into the studio with Snoop and the Neptunes. And of course Marques Houston has contributed to production too. He's executive producing the debut album from his younger brother, O'Ryan who Omarion says is more of a 'crooner'.

At one point there were talks that Brandy's brother Ray-J was to join the group and take Omarion's place. Fortunately for B2K fans, the guys have found a way to patch up their differences, if not their managment issues, and are still working together. Plans to get together on a "You Got Served 2" sequel are underway.

Lil Fizz's solo project is a rap and hip hop cd and is due out sometime this fall.
