Borneo - A Photographic Journey is a unique collection of over 100 black and white photos featuring the peoples of Malaysian Borneo. The book provides a rich visual introduction to the diverse cultures of the North Borneo states of Sarawak and Sabah. Fifteen ethnic groups are featured, including major groups such as the Iban of Sarawak and Kadazan/Dusun of Sabah and smaller groups such as the Penan, Kelabit, Kayan and Rungus. The images contained in this photo essay span the period from 1968 to 1999. They are unique images, the result of extended field trips, living amongst the various ethnic groups, sharing their lifestyles and cultures.

Dennis Lau, a Sarawakian of Chinese-Melanau descent, is one of Malaysia's premier photo journalists. He has spent over 35 years documenting the tribal peoples of Borneo and has contributed to a number of major books, including This is Borneo, Crafts of Malaysia, Malaysia - Heart of South-East Asia, and Sarawak Style. His pictures have also in number of regional magazines. His first book, Penans - The Vanishing Nomads of Borneo, was a critically acclaimed photo-documentary on the fast-disappearing way of life of the nomadic Penan.
