Herc Net Forum Intro Page,

| The Net Forum - The Net Forum is like a bulletin board where people with common interests can
communicate with each other. There are a number of Net Forums. There is one for "The Highlander".
There's one for "Xena: Warrior Princess". And there's one for "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys".
There are others, but these are the ones I know. Anyway, the Net Forum appears as a list of 200
Topics. You click on a topic and the post about it will appear. Then you can either go back to
the list of topics or you can click the 'reply' button. If you click the reply button you can
type your own message and post it as a thread off of the topic instead of making a whole new topic.
This helps keep from pushing older topics off the end of the list (which can only hold the 200 most
recent topics). Replies don't count as topics. There are separate Forums for Herc and Xena, but
there are some crossover fans. I am one of them. The men of the Family are called Hunters, and the
women are called Amazons.
Forum Family Wanderings - The people on the HercForum are like a big family. They interact regularly, and generally have lots of fun. Often, somebody will start some kind of story-line involving characters from Xena and Herc as well as the people on the Forum. These are signified by 'FFW' in the Topic title. They come in two different categories. One is where a person posts an application and the Family members reply to it and fill in the application. This is than taken and used in a full-length story that the author has created. Once in the story, the victims, I mean participants have to go along with the story. They can make requests, but the author has the final say. The other kind is where a person starts a plotline and leaves things open to the Family. Anyone can add to the story. It makes for some chaos and lots of fun. If the plot gets too far from what the original person wanted, they can just add to the story and twitch things back into place. Mostly though, these FFW's just kind of go on and on. They usually have to do with goings on at Deb U. People just play jokes on each other or get into trouble with the Chancellors or do things to kiss-up to the Chancellors in the hopes of being promoted to the next level. (see below for Deb U explanation) Something similar to these FFW's is the setting of the Forum. It's kind of like an imaginary universe where our Forum persona live. My persona is called Cleya Moonsong. Most Forum Family members have titles listed after their names. Some were given to them. Some were self-picked. Most of the Forum family seem to live at or around Debaucherette University. This is a college run by three Chancellors: Hebea, Astraea, and Nanaea. The classes are too numerous to list, but they range from Grape-peeling to "How to shove a miscreant through your harp strings so that he comes through in clean unbroken slices"! It's really just a background sort of thing, and gives us a means of interacting with each other. There are various levels at Deb U. At the time of our Valentine Cruise, I was still just a lowly level 1: Debaucherette in Waiting. I have since progressed to higher levels of Debauchery. There was a FFW once which was set up by Lorien. It was centered around Deb U and caused a lot of chaos. According to the shows, Ares lost his godhood at one point when his sword was stolen from him. This was a major premise for the plot at Deb U. You might want to read "The Mystery at Debaucherette University" first so that you have a better background on the people on the cruise. Put simply though, at one point, Cleya and a few others were ordered to seduce Ares and get his sword away from him. Cleya did some belly-dancing and the next thing Ares knew, he was mortal and swordless. *G* Yeah, Cleya's that good! He eventually got it back of course.
Forum abbreviations and symbols
M&M's - These are considered to be an aphrodisiac and a favorite of the Hunters and Amazons. Yellow M&M's are for Hercules. Blue M&M's are for Iolaus. There have been extensions to include other characters, but these two are the main ones. BST - Blue Speedo Thingie - This is what Iolaus wore at the beginning of an episode called "The Apple". He was inventing surfing! |
