Here are the pieces of the Elder Wraithlord straight from
the box. It's an eight piece white metal kit with a plastic base. There
was quite a lot of flash to clean up but none of the pieces were damaged
or bent. In my opinion Citadel make extremely good sculptings and
castings of all of their models (although that is sometime reflected in
the price when compared with other companies).
The first thing that I did (after cleaning the model up)
was to fill in the back of the head will with a household filler. The
model looked great from the front but when viewed from the rear the
hollow head didn't look correct. If possible I may try to find some
small flexi-tubing or something that looks like it to add some
connections from the head to the body.
While searching through my bits box for the tubular connectors I found
a Power Glove from a plastic Citadel Space Marine. I thought that the
bottom of the glove contained the perfect parts for adding to the head.
So using a saw, needle files and a craft knife I removed the relevant
bits without causing too much damage to the rest of the glove (who knows
I may use the rest of it soon).
I attached the legs to the head and torso construct using
Araldite two-part epoxy glue (there wasn't much opportunity to pin the
pieces together as the hip joints are very thin). I then undercoated the
entire model grey and then decided that the connectors between the
torso, arms and legs should be a dark colour. I went for Citadels
Salamander Green as I intend to paint the entire model in varying shades
of greens/yellows.
I choose Citadels Bilious Green as the base colour for
the majority of the model keeping Salamander Green as a recurrent theme
whenever there is a connector between parts of the model. The photo
shows the base colours half applied.
