We are located in Alaska, Land of the Midnight Sun.
We are at the foot of Mt.McKinley, also known as Denali, which means "the great one."
We are a small home, family breeder, that believes in producing the best dogs in
temperament, health and quality for the standard the breed.
The weather here in Alaska can be very harsh, with temps getting down to -45 to -50 degrees, with lots of snow and ice, allot like the TM's natural climate in Tibet.
About 3 years ago, we lost our beloved family member of 12 years. She was a
Husky/Akita/ Shepherd mix, and we were very sad. Wanting to get another dog was a mission of the heart, to find a dog suited for us, and the climate here.
We were looking for a dog that was gentle of heart, had strength of commitment to
family, and a guardian to warn of the dangers of moose and bear, that frequent our area.
In the Tibetan Mastiff,we found our true love. A dog that is all the above, and then more.
We acquired our first TM, Maggie, and our lives have never been the same.
As a young pup of 6 months old, Maggie showed her first real guardian behavior, when a
bear got on our back porch. With lunging and barking, she scared him off.
She is extremely gentle and loving with small children as well as older kids, and loves to play with my son and his friends.
Maggie was shown at her first dog show at 7 months old,at the IABCAA International
Dog Show in Alaska. In four shows she won 4 best of breeds, and earned her puppy
championship with them. At 16 months of age, we flew to California. To my utter shock, she took Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed at the TMCA National Specialty.
Maggie also won Best Puppy in the TMCA Regional Specialty. After her wins in California, Maggie went on to win many Best of Opposite sex awards. Most recently,in August of 2003, she took 4 Best of Breeds, and also 2 Working Group 2 awards at the
IABCAA show in Alaska. Maggie defeated many of the AKC breeds as well on her way
to Group 2. I am very, very proud of my pretty girl.
