Before the beginning that is known, before the wolves were born from ash, snow, and flame, before time itself even recalls, they were there. They are nameless unknowns, souls lost to a raging storm of confusion and exile. When the wolf was born many races branched off from the mortal being, the two best known species being the Titans and the Elementals. But there were some who strayed from all known paths becoming creatures lost to even the vast knowledge which the Elements hold dear. They were nameless wolves, powerful and deranged to a deadly extent. They appeared normal, like any other wolf, yet there was something abnormal about them, something which was utterly wrong about them. There were two of these creatures at the start of the first era, a psychotic and sinister female who took on the name of Jackal and a sullen yet domineering male who became known as Angelus. Together they pillaged and slaughtered, killing all who stood in their way and even some who didn’t. They had no reason nor rhyme for what they did, it was merely for their sick amusement to see the mortal wolves beaten and broken while they bled scarlet upon the ground. The mortal wolves began calling them Reapers, these two things which stole away with lives and souls. They were elusive ghosts, quick to strike then dispersing back into the shadows. Something had to be done or all which wolf-kind had strived so hard to create would fall in a bloody massacre.
And so the Elementals answered the mortal’s pleas. Shawman sought out Angelus and Gaia chased down Jackal. They tried to reason with the two yet these vile abominations of nature would have nothing to do with peace and harmony in the world. They were here to destroy good will and to maul peaceful existence; they would not stop their defiant ways. Enraged at the lack of corporation and total corruptness that the Reapers showed Shawman and Gaia attacked Jackal and Angelus, however the Reapers escaped the assault and fled to The Barren Lands where they would establish a pack of their own to confront the Elementals with.
Slowly others like Angelus and Jackal tricked into The Barren Lands, they were abnormal since they were not mortal yet they were neither Titans or Elementals. They had no place nor purpose in the world so they would carve one out for themselves.
They were called Reapers, those who had strayed from the proper evolution of normal wolves, weather they be Mortals, Elementals, or Titans. They had no purpose in this world so they wandered without direction or meaning, like physical ghosts upon the face of the planet. They were outcasts by birth, a morbid and corrosive air hung about them making all skirt their existence. And then, suddenly, they had a place.
There were ten of them in all, lead by Angelus and Jackal. The two had set up a pack within the outskirts of Aiela upon the deserted planes called The Barren Lands and all the “daughters and sons of nothing” were drawn to the territory. For that was what they were, they were the offspring of nothing, whelps of no one. They had been created without reason so in search of a nitch in life they had banded together to create the Diaspora Clan, they were The Dark Ten.
Toxin, Bloodmask, Windseeker, Hatchet, Crow, Infection, Deadstar, Savage, these were the others who traveled to The Barren Lands in search of the Diaspora Clan. Togeather with Angelus and Jackal they made up The Dark Ten. Bloodmask was the first to arrive, followed by Savage and Crow, the last to join the ranks was Windseeker. Alone they were nothing but demented killers, hell bent on nothing but annihilation of their foolhardy cousins. Yet, as a clan they were far worse. They created their goal in life, to turn the wolf race into creatures like them, all would be Reapers or they would perish.
The Elementals caught wind of this and again raced to confront the deranged creatures, yet now the Reapers had a pack and stopping them proved harder than they had thought. Shawman, Gaia, Rawfyel, and Zinc fought back the Diaspora Clan, wounding them until none could fight except for Angelus and Jackal. Shawman, joined by Zinc, attacked Angelus, and Gaia, joined by Rawfyel, went for Jackal. The eight Reaper clan members watched in fallen hope as their leaders were overpowered.
Angelus was blinded by Shawman but would not stop the fight. Soon Jackal, Gaia, Zinc, and Rawfyel were too tired to carry on, however the raging war between Shawman and Angelus kept going in a horrible blood brawl. Blinded, Angelus had the lower hand in the fight yet kept attacking. It was clear that the fiend would not halt his assault so as a last measure Shawman opened up the ground and banished Angelus into the earth then sealed it shut so that he could not escape. Thus was the end of The Dark Ten…for a time.
Jackal as well as the rest of the Diaspora Clan were exiled from Aiela and for years they have wandered the lands in solitary repent as well as harboring a horrid rage towards the Elementals. Jackal took the loss of her mate as if she herself had died and plunged her body as well as soul and mind into a state of depression and depthless grief. She fled to the woodland where her body survived but her mind and spirit decayed. After years of remaining in this desolate quandary she reappeared with a new ambition, she would find a way to free Angelus of his earthly prison.
Time passed and all was quiet, the Reapers were thought to have gone from the world. However, they are only hiding in shadow and plotting their next move.
