Twenty-Four Years
 by Kasa no Miko (shards_of_dewprism@yahoo.com)

NOTES: This is a poem that may have very minor yaoi implications, and it's between Reno (the 'I' here) and Reeve of FF7. So if you Keel Over and Die (TM) in your seat, do not blame me. Blame the little demon who whispers words in my ear (No, really! It's true! You can take away the straitjacket, Mr. People-In-White-Coats!) Anyway, enjoy...if you can.

Lonely I have lived for twenty-four years
Mine were all the joys, the sadness and fears.
Time has molded me into a heartless machine
With a soul so empty, and senses so keen.

Orders are given, I carry them out
I murder, rob and kidnap, without a single doubt
My conscience is buried, my soul has been sold
To the Devil who sits grasping me in its hold.

And then, one day, like an angel from above
You showed me concern, forgiveness and love
You became the father I never knew I had
Who guided and kept me from the path that was bad.

Where have you been all these twenty-four years
When you could've cheered me and wiped away my tears?
And now you say that you love me so,
Then hug me, hold me, and never let go...
