Amidst the pain and sufferings
That was brought by this war
With a silent plea inside the heart
A boy stood watch from afar.
Watching his people
Whose souls were ready to depart
Alone in this land of death
That tore his heart apart.
A face with a look of sadness
His eyes filled with regret
Blinking back tears of pain
As he looked at the sight he could not forget.
"Not long ago, I was victorious,"
The boy said in his mind.
"Conquering without hesitation,
Lands that I can find.
I trained all my warriors well.
I led them to every fight.
Victorious we all have been,
As we showed our enemies all our might.
But what I've done was done to me.
Ten times worse than I've done before.
For all the innocent lives I've taken,
Is this what I am paying for?
There is a reason,
To why I fight and kill
Cause no matter how many things I've gained
I feel something lacking still.
But now I know what I've not gained,"
The boy cried, falling to his knees.
"I may have everything anyone could ever wish to have,
But I never had any peace."
