Sharon E. Smith, a
resident of Sand Springs was born November 6, 1946 in Hominy, Oklahoma
to William ''Earl'' and Louise (Stiles) House. Their
grandparents, Dunham and Mary House raised Sharon and her brothers after
the unexpected death of their mother in March of 1952 until their Aunt
Lola came from Texas in 1955 to care for them. Sharon came
down with Polio at the Tulsa State Fair in 1957. After months
of recovery at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma, she returned home and to school. She never
recovered use of her right arm, but learned to do everything with her
left arm and carried on a normal life as a mother and
homemaker. Sharon was married to Woodrow Smith at Hominy,
Oklahoma on June 29, 1964.
Sharon passed away November 28, 2001 at Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 55
years and 22 days; she always stayed in high sprits and never let
anything get her down. She carried on a brave battle for 18
months against lung cancer and was still fighting to the end.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and husband
Woodrow.
Survived by Son, Ray and wife Lori Brown, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Step
Daughter, Anglia and husband Johnny Rich, Drumright,
Oklahoma; Step Son, Charles D. Burgess, Sand Springs,
Oklahoma; Two Brothers, Earl D. House, Sand Springs,
Oklahoma; Larry D. ''Butch'' House, Sapulpa,
Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Tracer, Samatha, Amelia and
Ben, Special Friend, Orville C. Burgess, Sand Springs,
Oklahoma; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and other
relatives
Pallbearers will be Jim Ament, Bill Tidwell, Tim Arney, Randy Duckett,
Wayne House, Butch House, Raymond Smith, John Davis
Services will be held December 1, 2001 at 10:00 AM at Chapman-Black
Chapel with Rev. Tobe and Rev. Doris Sperry
officiating. Burial will be at Osage Cemetery in Osage,
Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of
Cleveland, Oklahoma.
