“Don't stand
Don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me”
Don’t Stand So Close To Me – Sting and the Police
“Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear”
Fever – Peggy Lee
Eddie called her and the moment she heard his voice, her heart did a cartwheel. He asked her out for a date but, of course, he didn’t mean a date date, he meant as in “let’s hang out”. She felt it was one of his ways of teasing her.
Somehow, she developed a “crush” on Eddie, it’s been developing for awhile and now it’s at the peaking. It all seemed so silly and stupid to her, she an adult with a teenage girl crush, but it also made her feel giddy sometimes. It was also very frustrating, this restraint.
Whenever she sees him, she just wants to tackle him down to the ground and fuck him rotten. It’s deeper than a physical attraction but that just happens to be the most raging.
It’s like a denied fix for the junkie, an aching scream that cannot get out. She can’t get by on just the hugs and occasional kisses on the cheek, forehead, and the extremely rare ones on the mouth.
She wants to feel his lips on hers, especially the ones between her thighs. She imagines they would feel exquisite.
Thoughts like those are very frequent around him and she prays that when they make her smile he does not ask for the reason and he usually doesn’t.
She hoped she looked nice. She wasn’t out to “bewitch” him, just wanted him to notice. He didn’t seem to though. Seems like most guys never do, at least he never did. She wonders why she bothers sometimes.
She sat in the booth next to Blondie, whose hair is actually dyed a dark blue, trying to think of other things, but it was just too much temptation looking at Eddie and his mouth.
I wish you could read my mind right now.
“I’m gettin’ real tired of this girl, dude, she’s just so goddamn selfish.”
Blondie’s really upset and that troubles Beatriz because he’s a really nice guy, but his girlfriend sounds like a miserable cunt. She’s not too focused on him right now though and that makes her feel a little bad. Here’s this poor guy with his heart on his sleeve and she’s thinking about riding Eddie like a dime-store pony.
Eddie says nothing, continues to tear into his burger with his crown half cocked. He knows Blondie doesn’t want a reply, just an outlet to vent.
EDDIE! I LOVE YOU!...well, I think I do…
“It’s like, I do everything, EVERYTHING, and she doesn’t do shit! NOTHING! A relationship is half and half, give and take. I give some, you take some, I take some, you give some! There’s supposed to be some kinda reciprocation. I get nothing! I give and she just fuckin’ takes, takes, takes from me! Sharing is caring and obviously she doesn’t care for me! I’m sick of this bitch!”, his wild gesturing stops and he holds his head in his hands for awhile.
His face, now red, pops back up and from his peripheral vision realizes that Beatriz is sitting next to him, her face impassive, eyes hidden behind Eddie’s mirrored shades. She’s ecstatic about wearing them, bites her cheeks to tame that smile threatening to split her face.
Your eyes are so pretty, Eddie. You don’t need to wear shades.
She thinks about what kind of squint his eyes make while he’s having sex. Her cheeks are starting to hurt.
“Oh, Baby,” he’s explosively apologetic, “I’m sorry about…‘bitch’, y’know?”
She looks at him, thankful for the distraction.
“Don’t be.” says she, soothingly and gives his shoulder a rub and squeeze. She wishes his shoulder was Eddie’s.
She didn’t mind, she’d call her one, too. She met her once or twice, the darling Drama Queen, all encounters brief but intolerable. Every time she saw her she was bitching about something stupid. Too much vanity and too concerned with triviality. Very pretty, though.
“I’m just…” he sighs, “I feel like we’re at the end, but I don’t want this to be the end. I’m crazy about her. She’s my something special, y’know?”
Eddie nods because he knows, sipping his Coke.
Beatriz looks at his hands and imagines their warmth on her breasts, clutching her hips as they fuck.
“But I dunno what to do! If I don’t say anything, the whole cycle continues, but if I speak up, she’ll get all pissy and start freaking out, crying, swinging at me.” He gestures at Eddie, “You’ve seen this!”
Eddie nods again because he sympathizes with the crap that girl gives him. Beatriz bites her lip.
Do you know how wet I am just looking at you?
Blondie shakes his head and makes a noise of disgust. “Bullshit.”
If I jumped on this table and stripped for you, would you notice me then?
“Maybe you should call her.” Eddie says after awhile.
The sound of his voice makes her squeak in her throat.
Did you hear that? I could be louder for you.
“To say what?”
If I rubbed my foot against your leg, would you let me or kick me?
“Tell her how you feel. This whole thing doesn’t seem very good for you. You’re obviously not sleeping.”
Does your cock taste as good as I think it does?
Blondie rubs his eyes. “No, I really haven’t.”
Does it feel as good as I think it would?
The puffy circles under his eyes are almost darker than Eddie’s.
“Go call her.”
Maybe I should climb under the table and find out.
“Yeah,” Blondie says timidly, “Yeah!”, repeated with confidence. “I’m gonna call her and dish out an ultimatum. If she can’t dig it, I guess we’re done and that’s it!”
If I climbed over there and straddled you, would you push me off or encourage me?
“Lemme out, Baby.” Blondie’s up and determined.
“Sure.”
She gets up to leave him out and he sprints for the pay phone. She steals his window seat. Eddie watches Blondie and shakes his head subtly.
Would you ever say yes to me?
“I would’ve sent her ass walking the first time she started that drama bit.”
Why don’t you like me? Why don’t you notice?
“Life is too short to be stuck with her garbage.”
It’s because I’m ugly, right? My tits are too big? What part don’t you like? Tell me and I’ll change it.
“How does a nice guy like that get stuck with a fuckin’ succubus? It’s heartbreaking.”
You break my heart.
