How to use the Shawomet District E-mail
List Server on Yahoo Groups
The Yahoo Groups E-mail List Server that we now use works in the following way:
1. Once you decide you want to see ALL of the Scout related messages sent to
the e-mail list server, you subscribe to the server as shown under
"SUBSCRIBE".
2. Once you have sent the subscribe request, Yahoo Groups will send you an
e-mail asking you to verify your request. Once you have verified the
subscribe request you will receive a second message telling you that you
are subscribed and how to send messages to the server. You will start
receiving a copy of ALL e-mails sent to the server.
3. REMEMBER that an e-mail sent to the server will be sent to ALL subscribers
to the server. PLEASE DO NOT SEND messages to SPECIFIC individuals to the
server. Messages between individuals sent to the server tend to irritate
the subscribers. Please be considerate and careful with any replies.
NOTE:
When you reply to an e-mail from
our server, PLEASE MAKE SURE you REVIEW the ADDRESS you are replying to.
Our server has been set up so that a reply will automatically go to the
SENDER of the original e-mail and not to the server (and then to everyone
that is subscribed to the server). If you want your reply to go to the
server, and therefore to all the subscribers, you must change the reply
address to the server's address.
USERS CAN BE BANNED FROM THE SERVER:
The Shawomet District E-mail List Server is to be used ONLY FOR SCOUTING
RELATED MESSAGES. Jokes, stories, religious or political statements are not
to be sent to the server. People using the server for ANY other type messages
will be warned one time about posting non-Scout related messages. The next
time that person sends a non-Scout related message, their userid will be BANNED
from sending/receiving e-mail messages to the Shawomet_bsa YahooGroups server.
WARNING:
The Yahoo Groups E-mail List Server is a free service.
Therefore, you may see advertisements in the e-mail messages that are sent
to you as a result of you subscribing to the list server. The Shawomet District has NO CONTROL of what advertisements get appended to the e-mails.

be a subscriber AND establish a Yahoo Groups userid and password. Then using
the address below you sign on to Yahoo Groups using your userid and password. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Shawomet_bsa/messages
There are several advantages to having a Yahoo Groups userid and password.
One is that you can elect NOT to receive messages, but instead log on to
Yahoo Groups to review the messages when you wish. Another is that you can
elect to receive the e-mails as they occur OR once a day. You can also set up
"alias addresses" (your other e-mail addresses) to be able to send messages to
the server from the "alias address". There are still other advantages and
they can be viewed under the "Edit My Membership" heading on your Yahoo
Groups userid after you have set up the userid on Yahoo Groups.
NOTICE:
Your use of Yahoo Groups is subject to Yahoo Group's Terms of Service.
