Smart Payment Plan

Our school has entered into an agreement with SMART Tuition Management Services to handle tuition collection for the school.  This packet includes all the information necessary to enroll in the program.

Why did the school choose to join SMART?  Tuition collection has become one of our most time-consuming tasks.  SMART offers a simplified approach to tuition collection which will reduce our delinquencies, increase our cash flow, and decrease our administrative workload, while providing our families with a more organized payment process.  With SMART, you will be able to pay your tuition much like you now pay your mortgage or car payments - by check or money order; using SMART'S online or telephone payment system, or having payments deducted automatically from your bank account.

Tuition will be collected on a monthly basis.  In accordance with school policy, a late payment will result in a charge of $20.  Any late charges are also payable through SMART.  All fees and tuition will be spread out over ten months beginning in July.

The cost of the program is $38 per year.  Because this amount was not published at registration time, you may be exempted from this fee, if you request it.  After this year, this fee will become part of the tuition plan.

All families, except those that will make full payment in advance, are required to participate in the SMART program.  Parents who elect to pay in full by July 1st will receive a 5% discount from tuition.  Please complete and return your form to the school office by Wednesday, April 20, 2006, so that we can forward it to SMART.  They will provide you with (a coupon book/invoices) or set up your automatic deduction.  Questions about the SMART program can be directed to us.  (305) 247-2678 or to SMART  at 1 800-SMART-03 (1-800-76278-03)

Volunteer Hours

Our school cannot survive without the help of our families.  Each family is responsible for 40 hours per year for the benefit of our school and parish.  These hours can be accumulated in a variety of ways.  Some examples of assisting are: working the festival, assisting in fund raisers, chaperoning dances and field trips, tutoring, helping with maintenance, the music ministry, working with the youth group, the Outreach Center, the homeless centers, and other parish related ministries.  A volunteer fee of $280. will be assessed to each family at the beginning of the year.  You can pay this directly to the school and not have to worry about volunteering or you may have the $280. taken off your bill when the 40 hours have been accumulated.  The parish and school need your support to continue to provide qualified Catholic education in Homestead.

Before and After School Care Program

We are happy to offer a  before and after school care program for the convenience of our families.  These programs also provide for the safety of all students who arrive early to school and remain on campus after dismissal.  Morning care is free.  However, students who remain on campus after 3:15 p.m. will be escorted to the after school care area.  Parents will be billed bi-weekly for hours used.  There are plans available that offer substantial savings to frequent users of these programs.

After School Care Fees per hour:

1st Child $4.25
2nd Child $3.25
3rd Child $2.50
4th Child $1.75

Prepaid Plans:

 5 hour plan $18.00 $3.60/hr
10 hour plan $32.00 $3.20/hr
15 hour plan $44.00 $2.93/hr
20 hour plan $55.00 $2.75/hr

Parents who do not pick up their children by 6:00 p.m. will be assessed an additional charge of $5.00 for every 10 minutes that they are late.  This is to be paid directly to the after school care supervisor on duty.

Uniforms

Students are to be in uniform each day unless an out of uniform day is announced.  A student being in proper school uniform is mainly the responsibility of the parents.  The burgundy polo style uniform shirts for boys and girls are only purchased from the Sunshine Uniform.  Navy or Khaki pants, shorts, culottes, and P.E. uniforms can only be purchased from Sunshine Uniform Company.  Dress shirts and ties for boys and girls (Grade 4-8 are to be worn on Fridays and all special event days unless issues can be found in the handbook.

Students in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten may wear the early childhood T-shirt with the P.E. shorts as their regular uniform.  They do not need to purchase the P.E. shirt.  However, it is nice to have at least one regular uniform for picture day, Masses, etc.  Students in grades 4 through 8 must have a white oxford with the school emblem, long pants (boys), culottes (girls), and one pair of casual dress shoes for fields trips.  Mass days, and other special occasions.  Students in grade 3 must have one pair of long pants (boys), or culottes (girls).

The entire uniform policy is available in the school handbook.  There will be some additions/changes to policy for the 2006-2007 school year.

School Hours

Student Visa

Sacred Heart School is pleased that you are considering registering your child at our school.  However, it is our responsibility to remind all families interested in our school that the Immigration and Naturalization Services require that a student hold a student visa (F-1) before they are permitted to attend classes in a school in the United States.  A school is not allowed to grant admission to a child who is in the country on a Tourist (B-1 or B-2) Visa.

Sacred Heart School will assist a family wishing to change their child's status from a Tourist Visa to a Student Visa in whatever way possible.  It often takes INS several months to process and approve such applications.  During this period the student may not registered or attend classes in the school.
