Volunteer Hours

Our school cannot survive without the help of our families.  Each family is accountable for 20 volunteer hours per semester or 40 hours per year for the benefit of our school.  These hours can be accumulated in a variety of ways.  Some examples of volunteer work are:  working the festival, assisting in fund raisers, chaperoning dances and field trips, tutoring, and helping with maintenance.  A $6.00 per hour charge is added to your monthly tuition bill for any hours not worked.  A $6.00 credit for each hour worked up to 40 hours is given as the verified volunteer hours are recorded in the office.

Before and After School Care Program

We are happy to offer a before and after school care program for the convenience of our families.  These programs also provide for the safety of all students who arrive early to school and remain on campus after dismissal.  Students who arrive before 7:45 a.m. must report to the before school care classroom.  Students who remain on campus after 3:15 p.m. will be escorted to the after school care area.  Parents will be billed bi-weekly for hours used.  There are plans available that offer substantial savings to frequent users of these programs.

Uniforms

Students are to be in uniform each day unless an out of uniform day is announced.  A student being in proper school uniform is mainly the responsibility of the parents.  The burgundy polo style uniform shirts for boys and girls are only purchased from the sunshine Uniform Company or from Homestead Embroidery.  Shirts cannot be purchased from a retail store and then taken to Homestead Embroidery for emblem.  Navy or Khaki pants, shorts, culottes, and P.E. uniforms can only be purchased from Sunshine Uniform Company.  Not other brand names are acceptable.  There will be no deviation from the policy.  Other uniform issues can be found in the handbook

School Hours

The school office is open from 7:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  On early dismissal days, the school office closes at 2:00 p.m.  All school business should be conducted during this time or by an appointment with the principal.  The students’ school day begins at 8:00 a.m.  Prekindergarten and Kindergarten dismiss at 2:45 p.m.  Grades one through four dismiss at 3:00 p.m.  Grades five through eight dismiss at 3:10 p.m.

Student Visa

Sacred Heart School is pleased that you are considering registering your child at our school.  However, it is our responsibility to remind all families interested in our school that the Immigration and Naturalization Services require that a student hold a student visa (F-1) before they are permitted to attend classes in a school in the United States.  A school is not allowed to grant admission to a child who is in the country on a Tourist (B-1 or B-2) Visa.

Sacred Heart will assist a family wishing to change their child’s status from a Tourist Visa to a Student Visa in whatever way possible.  If often takes INS several months to process and approve such applications.  During this period the student may not be registered or attend classes in the school.
