Zahdé's"Instant" Chili
Ingredients
- 1lb ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3T chilli powder
- 1/2t Cummin (optional)
- 1/4t Tumeric (optional)
- 1 whole green pepper w/seeds and membranes removed (optional)
- 2 med onions, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, finely diced
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes w/ green chili peppers
- 1 (15 oz) can dark kidney beans w/ liquid
- 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans w/ liquid
- 1 (15 oz) can corn (plain or creamed) w/ liquid (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef with salt, pepper, and other spices.
- Add the onions and green pepper and cook until the meat is cooked through and onions are translucent.
- Then add the garlic, tomatoes, beans, and corn.
- Bring to a simmer, add more water as needed.
- Simmer until thoroughly heated and serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, corn bread or crackers.
Theory of the Dish
For me Chili is ground beef, tomatoes, green bell pepper, beans, onions, garlic, and spices. Usually the only things I don't have right on hand are the bell pepper and beans. It's just a Mexican beef stew.
