Dad's Molasses Cake

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Grease 8"x8" pan
  3. Add Vinegar to milk and set aside to curdle
  4. Cream butter with sugar.
  5. Whip in the egg until fluffy.
  6. Add molasses.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the curdled milk until everything is mixed in.
  8. Spread in the pan
  9. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until done.

Theory of the Dish

This is something my dad used to make when I was a kid. It is the most amazing cake! Good in winter when you want something to stick to your ribs. He called it Gingerbread. But I think of gingerbread as those hard flat cookies shaped like little men. This is a dense moist cake.
