Barbara's life was emotionally empty until she met Peter. In their last months together, she and Peter travelled and enjoyed life until his disease took grip. Under his instructions, Barbara helped him pass away as painlessly as possible. Peter's children from his previos marriage resented their relationship and were angry about the money that was spent in Peter's final months. They acused Barbara of being a murderous gold-digger and their evidence was crucial in her being sent down for manslaughter. Prison is a huge shock to Barbara; she lived a very active life before, so its restrictions are hard to take. She misses her departed husband very much and is racked by guilt over whether she did the right thing. Helped by cellmate Nikki Wade, she does, however, come into her own. |
