Correct monitor and display settings
To get the correct monitor resolution/Refresh Rate and and the correct colour depth in
windows you may need to get Several things
right.
1:Correct video card/display adaptor drivers.
2:Correct mother board AGP drivers(Not always needed with PCI video cards).
3:Correct Monitor drivers(Not always needed)
It's common mistake people make after a clean re-install of windows to not install these drivers and thus only get 640X480 16 colours.Once installed go through below.
.
You can use the free Aida32 to find out what video card you have etc and then use Google to find them.
Follow the instructions below, print out if need be.
1:keep pressing the F8 key on bootup/Choose
Safemode from the list.
2:Control Panel/System/Device Manager/Display
Adaptors and remove ALL entries you find
there.Stay in device manager,do not re-boot yet.
3:Same as 2:but go to the monitor
section and remove ALL drivers entries you find there.
4:Re-boot.
Windows should ask for either the drivers disk or the place on your hard drive where you have extracted a downloaded drivers pack. Then Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/Monitor and
choose a driver to suit your monitor(Plug in and Play usually works). You may have to go to the Control panel/Settings/Advanced/Display adaptor and change to say 75 Hz to get the best refresh rate for your card or choose what suits you.I suffer from migraine and anything but 75 Hz up or down is no good for me.Drivers Links Page
