6 lamb chops
1 onion, sliced 1 tbs oil or margarine 1 carrot, peeled and cut into rings 1 potato, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes 1 apple, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch pieces 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 beef stock cube water as needed sharp knife vegetable peeler chopping board 1 large dixie or camp oven wooden spoon |
Brown onions and chops in a dixie in oil or margarine. Add all other ingredients. Stir occasionally and add water as necessary. Cook for about 30 - 45 minutes. (I have actually had Cubs come back for seconds with this recipe). |
CHOCOLATE
ORANGES - Makes enough for 2 sixes
1 orange per Cub
1 packet of no-name brand chocolate cake mix 1 egg silver foil sharp knife 2 mixing bowls sieve cup spoon |
Cut 1/4 off the top of the orange. Carefully scoop out the flesh from the orange into a bowl. Make sure the skin is not pierced. Sieve the juice and use this as the liquid for making up the cake batter. Follow the instructions on the cake mix packet. fill the orange cavity to about 1/4 from the top, and then wrap carefully in silver foil, shiny side of foil against the orange. Toss into hot coals for about 10 minutes. |
1 banana per Cub
1 block of Peppermint Aero silver foil |
Leaving the skin on, slice a slit along the inner curve along the banana. Break the Peppermint Aero bar into pieces and stuff 2 or three pieces of chocolate into the slit. Wrap the banana in silver foil, shiny side against the banana. Cook in coals for about 10 minutes. |
2 slices of bread
jam pancake batter (see pancakes) supa fry oil for cooking. Has to be very hot. sugar and cinnamon |
Spread jam on bread, making a sandwich. Dip in batter and place in hot oil. It will try to flip over by itself when ready to be turned. Cook both sides and coat in sugar and cinnamon. |
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder 1/2 ts salt 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 cup milk 2 tbs cooking oil 1 large empty tin (fruit can) 6 holes
pierced around the top rim of the can

Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Mix egg milk and oil together. Slowly add to dry ingredients.
Beat until smooth.
Place candle on a firm even surface and light it. Place tin over the top of the candle, ensuring the flame does not have contact with the can. Place a small amount of margarine or butter on the top of the can and then pour a small amount of pancake batter to cover the top of the can. When bubbles appear on the top of the pancake and the surface has dried a little, turn over and cook the other side. |
1 egg
1 slice of bread 1/2 tbs margarine or butter frying pan egg lifter |
Cut a hole from the middle of the bread. Melt the margarine in the frying pan. Place the bread in the frying pan and carefully break the egg into the hole in the bread. Cook until the bread is golden, then turn and cook the other side. |

PLUM PUDDINGS - These make excellent christmas gifts
1 no-name brand dark fruit cake
1/4 cup orange juice white chocolate buds red and green glaced cherries cut into 8ths mixing bowl teaspoon cellephane paper |
Break up cake into the bowl. add enough orange juice to make a pliable mixture. Roll into balls about the size ofgolf balls or smaller. Melt the chocolate carefully in a microwave or in a double boiler. Using a teaspoon, pour the chocolate over the tops of each ball, resembling custard. Place a piece of red and green cherry on top of the chocolate to decorate. When chocolate has set, wrap several in cellophane as a gift pack. |
