MmHmm | Rating:******* Out of ten |
Relient K | Reviewer: WildMage22 |
Relient K never fails to satisfy my appetite. Ever since I heard the song "Sadie Hawkins Dance" three years ago, I have loved this band's light punk rock hits. And their new CD, MmHmm, is no exception. They have done it again, blending Green Day, Bowling for Soup, and Coheed and Cambria while adding their own fun and hopeful tone and lyrics.
The first time that I heard this CD, MmHmm, was in my brother's car, and even though his strict rules say that you can't sing along to a song unless you know the song's name, the artist's name, and the album, I was instantly hooked. I went and bought the entire CD on iTunes immediately. It was worth all of the ten dollars that I paid for it. It had songs like "High of Seventy-Five" and "Be my Escape" that are good rock songs and also, at the same time, quite upbeat and optimistic.
MmHmm is a great CD to dance to, and it's also excellent for when you're having a really bad day; you come home and put it on your CD player, and it just lifts your spirits.
MmHmm isn't perfect, however. The CD slightly drags on parts of "Let It All Out" and "Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet". It also seems like most of the songs start out with a slow singing part that suddenly breaks into rock.
I didn't mind the song's tempos and the like by themselves, but if you listen to the entire CD, it gets a little redundant. I really liked the majority of the songs on this disk, so I'll give MmHmm four out of five stars. Keep up the good work, Relient K!
