This is good stuff -- I promise.

Here's a recipe that'sone of my favorite (and easy!) specialties. It always gets a lot of raves at the table.
Chili Cheese Steaks
2 pounds round steak (or venison), cut 1-inch thick
3 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup or less shortening (I don't use any)
2 cups chopped onion
1 16-ounce can whole tomatoes
shredded cheddar cheese
In a skillet, brown meat in shortening or a little oil and place in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Brown onions in same pan until tender and stir in remaining ingredients except cheese. Pour over meat. Cover with foil. Bake 2 hours at 350 degrees. Or bake longer at a lower temperature. Sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake 5 minutes longer. Serve with white rice. Serves 4 to 6.

Fresh German Fried Potatoes
Bake one potato per person. Slice the potato in nice even slices, leaving the peel on. Grill the slices on a hot, flat-top grill or in a skillet in a little butter. When the potato slices are almost done (brown), add diced onions, red peppers, and bell peppers. Salt and pepper to taste.
