Repair Solution (Nokia 3310)
Some
transceivers are observed to suffer from intermittent \'Auto turn
off\'.Symptoms of this can be following:1. Phone switches off by itself-
Even with 3 or 4 battery bars and after turn on again it is possible to
make a call for a longer period- Typically it fails repeatedly with
intervals of anything from minutes to one or two days- This should not
be mixed up with the normal Battery Low turn off2. Phone gets stuck-
Keyboard not activeThe following components should be changed in phones
suffering from that \'Auto power off\' symptom:
Phones with following HW ID might suffer from this symptom: 0600,
0601,0602, 0603, 0604, 0607, 0608, 0612 & 0614.In HW ID 0615 the
above mentioned component changes have been already done.
FREE SMS (Philips C12)
Type out message, press send and when
requesting text appears hold down the red power button. The message
should be sent for free.
This Trick also works with no calltime credit!
Menu for Unlocking ( Ericsson A1018s
+A2618)
If you press ->*<-<-**<- you
will come to the menu for locking, unlocking the SP lock and enrow text.
Shortcuts (Ericsson T28)
Press and hold C to activate Silent mode. Usefull for meetings etc. Same
procedure to deactivate.
Press and hold <- to get to the first item in My Shortcuts. Fast way
to access the item you use most.
Press and hold -> to get into Phone Book/Find and Call. Not so useful
if you use the next trick instead.
Press and hold the button with the letter you want to access in the
Phone Book. Eg hold 6 to get into the phone book at letter M. Then
release it and press it again to access letters MNO...
Police Radar Detect ! (Nokia 5110 + 6110 + 6150 + 8210 + 8250)
To detect police radars please follow the following steps,
Settings ->
Security Settings ->
Restrict Group ->
Activate and enter the code 00000 then press Ok.
Doing that you can see a little icon in your display phone, that allowed
in a range of 1 Km the phone detect the police radar by bipping like a
massage.
Please note that this codes are reported not working at some country, we
need feedback also if it works in your country.
Bypass the SP lock (Nokia Models)
With some versions of Nokia
16xx/21xx/31xx/51xx/81xx that are SIMlocked you can bypass the SP lock
like this:
1] Insert sim card of diferent provider.
2] Turn on the phone and press the UP VOLUME key for 3 sec. then release
it and the phone says PIN CODE ?
3] Press the "C" key.
4] Then Press * and wait until it desapear and apear again, then press *
one more time and 04*PIN*PIN*PIN#
The phone now says: PIN CODE CHANGED (or ACCEPTED)
and the SIM card is accepted until you restart the phone again.
NOTE: On vesion 5.04 (5110) Nokia has removed this option !

- Type *n# in the begining of the sms for a status report.

It seem that TELENOR MOBIL send out letters with the purpose of closing
all free servers.
Tips and tricks (Nokia 8110i)
The 54# Tip
Type 1#, 2#........54# on the keypad (when
you're not in the menu) to get the phone number used for with this key
when speed dialing.
Update from 8110 >8110i impossible
Even though NHE-6 is found on the bagside of 8110 too an update from
that phone to the 8110i is impossible. The reason is simple. The
hardware is different which means that the SW capacity in 8110i is
bigger than the 8110.
Original Ringtone
I you want the original ringtone back after
you have downloaded one you can send a message to yourself containing
the text: //SCKL1581 After some time you will recieive a message that
you can save, and your original Nokia ringtone is back.
What's a Business Card?
A business card is a special SMS message
which is composed as following: //SCKE2 BEGIN:VCARD N:name TEL:number
END:VCARD
Hands Free tip
To continue an existing call when placing
the 8110i into the hands free car kit without it dropping the call,
press the Memory button just before connecting the cable and placing it
in the cradle.
Display extra text in call costs feature
tip
If your network operator doesn't offer a
call costs service, you can still make use of that function to display
some personalised text on the screen of your 8110i. Go to Menu, [5],
[7], [1], enter PIN2-code and choose Set. Then type in the limit of the
currency units you're using (if the call cost service worked, you would
have to type the cost limit of the calls) and choose OK. In this case I
typed 8110. Then go to the next submenu (Menu, [5], [7], [2]), the Show
costs in menu. Type in the PIN2 code again and select Currency. Type in
the unit price, in this case number 1. Then type the name of the
currency - you can use any string of letters and numbers 1-3 characters
long. then type 2 letter then to confirm type two names begining with
one of each of the letters. Then press OK to confirm it.
Quick saving while in call tip
Saving numbers to memory during a call If
you type a number into your phone during a call, you will lose it when
the call ends. To prevent this happening just hold down Memory button --
the number will be saved (with no name) to the next available memory
location.
Deleting SMS messages quickly tip
When reading an SMS message, instead of
pressing Option, Erase to delete the message, simply press [C].
Turning lights on temporarily tip
If you have display lights turned off, you
can turn them on by quickly pressing and releasing the power button.
They will stay on as long as you are pressing button.
Silent mode temporarily tip
You can put your phone into silent ringing
mode temporarily by pressing Menu then [#].
Closing the cover without ending a call tip
If you press the menu key and then close
the sliding cover during a call you will not end your call.
Turning lights on temporarily tip
If U have lights turned off U can turn them
on by quickly pressing and releasing the power button . They will stay
on as long as U're pressing the button.
This works also in Nokia 3110. Lights will go off after a couple of
seconds if no button pressing

the menu with the profiles is shown on the display. If you press one
more time, the mobile turns itself off. You can use the up and down
cursor keys to scroll and enable a different alert setting.
The 54# Tip

Toggle Headset and Auto settings
1: Try Connect the pin-out 1-2 (in front
from the right.) to toggle headset settings (The phone will think that
you ar using a headset - "headset" is displayed in the LCD)
2:Try Connect the pin-out 2-3 (in front from the right.) to toggle auto
settings (The phone will think that you ar using it in the car -
"auto" is displayed in the LCD)

The Reboot Trick
Should work on all software versions..let
us know if your phone can take it.. 1. Go to calendar ( menu - 8 ) 2.
Make note / reminder 3. Enter some text into the edit box 4. Hold clear
until whole text is cleared, then press back 5. Press 0.Main screen is
shown but a space appears on the screen. You can't see it ofcause. 6.
Enter 4 digits ( 1234 for example ) 7. Use the down arrow to move the
cursor to the left side of the numbers and the space (2 times down
arrow) 8. Now enter 6 digits and press the green "Call
button". 9. Wait some seconds..the phone will now flash the
background light and finally reboot.
The trick should also work on other menus like the profile menu...

Crazy 5110
Send a SMS full of . (dots) the it'll go
crazy when you scroll the received message in your 5110. It doesn't do
any permanent damage...it only goes crazy if you scroll the SMS. I'm not
sure if it works with all of the software version but it works with
4.59. Doesn't work on SW version 4.53 ..
Your number in your display
1. Goto menu 3-7 Call cost settings.
2. Turn ON the Call costs' limit 3-7-1. PIN2 code Required.
3. Put in the limit with the phone number. eg. my phone # is 019 2184697
Enter the limit as 2184697
4. Goto menu 3-7-2 Show costs in. PIN2 code Required.
5. Select Currency.
6. Enter Unit price : 1
7. Enter Currency name as 019 (per my phone # eg. above) Now the phone
number 019 2184697 will remains on the 4th row of the display. Secondly,
if you press the # key, it prompt which line to be used; Line 1 or 2.
Shortcut (Ericsson T28s)
Last Dialed call menu
If you for some reason don't want to enter
the 'Last Dialed calls menu' by using the 'YES' key you can use the
following key stroke instead: First '0' then '#'.

for about 2 sec. The bat. level will now be shown in the display at its
normal position.
Access menu without Sim card
To access to the menu in your phone without
having a card inside do the following: type **04*0000*0000*0000# When
display say "Wrong Pin" press NO and you have access to the
all menus: Info, Access, Settings, Calculator, Clock, Keylock On?, Mail,
Phone book.
NOTE if you try this on the GH688 your phone may stop at Keylock On?
menu and you´ll have to take your battery out to turn the phone on
again.
Free phone calls
NB! This trick has only been reported
working on PREPAID GSM CARDS and in some countries and with some sw
versions.
The prepaid GSM SIM CARD is a kind of "SIM card" which only
has a sertant amount of credit on it (like a normal phonebox telecard)...
if it can be traced? - I don't know...
Well..here's the trick you dial the no. normally and press YES. While
"connecting" is shown on the screen, the following procedure
should be carried out:
Press CLR then 0 then # and then NO (twice) so as to switch OFF the
phone. You can then still speak on the phone while it is switched off
but the SIM card does not record your calls which will lead to FREE
phone calls in some countries.. we hope!!
Another variant of the code
Make a Call, while the phone says
Connecting type 083# (the position 83 must be empty! ), when phone says
Pos Emtpy, press the NO key and turn off the phone.
If you can make the call with the phone turned off you will face a
problem when you need to hang up the phone...the only way for you to do
that is remove the battery...??? (Please tell me otherwise!!)

Go to the network menu, when the phone displays the networks available
(in 'Select net' and 'Edit list' menu) you can press * and you will see
the full name.
Full Operator List
You can view the full operator list by
doing the following: Go to the 'Edit list' menu under 'networks'. The
phone say 'please wait' (searching for other networks). When finished,
Press the < key once, then YES twice. Now the phone displays the full
list. Browse through the list with the < > keys.
Monitor mode
How to enable monitor mode on Ericson 688..
1. Remove SIM from phone
2. Dial 112, press YES, hear something,
3. Dial 112YESNO
4. Press <(left arrow) before SETTINGS
5. Then YES, <(left arrow), then u will see NM on?
6. press YES
Free phone calls

Alarm Clock Menu
Go to MissedCall
Empty the list
Press the -> key for a second or two
The option Menu size turns up
Choose 'yes' and go from there.
An alarm clock turned up too but it never rang. I think this was because

Edit Greetings Tip.
1. Go to the Keylock menu.
2. Set lock to Auto.
3. Press YES then hold the left arrow untill the Greetings menu appears.
GF788 menu in your GF768 phone! (1)
1. Go to the EDIT MENU and press YES.
2. Type the number "2" and press YES.
3. In "NAME" HOLD DOWN the "2" key untill the number
"2" apperars. Press YES.
4. Press YES again (to save any position) then QUICKLY press and hold
left arrow (<) untill "SIZE" appears in the display.
5.Press YES and choose "Full size". You now have the GF788
menu!
NB. Confirmed working on version 970716 and 980318.
GF788 menu in your GF768 phone! (2)
1. Go to MissedCall
2. Empty the list
3. Press the -> key for a second or two
4. The option Menu size turns up
5. Choose 'yes' and go from there
NB. Confirmed working on version 990122.

1. Go and set the ring volume and press
yes.
2. When 'STORED' is displayed - keep the right button -> pressed
until 'Extended Menu' is displayed.
3. Select "Activate" the menus and you now have lots of extra

You should now be able to talk without being billed.
Display (Siemens S3)
Nice Sundown in the display.
Siemens S3 or younger: In the Telephone Book in the section own numbers,
first position you have to type in +12022243121 (Number of the Capitol
in Washington DC) and save it without a name. Then open this telephone
book again do so as you like to change the number but leave the modus
without changing anything. A nice Sundown will be shown in the display.
