After making some TF's from Gundam models, I thought it might be interesting to go the other way: making a Gundam from a TF. It was only fitting to make the original RX-78 Gundam, and almost instantly I thought of the BW leaders basic two pack, its cheap to get (even now). So I began turning Primal into Gunvoy.
I first worked on the head. I removed Primal's side "fins", altered his crest a bit, and added some Gundam antennas. Next came the wings, which I removed near the base. After a bit of fiddling with them, I got a better looking folded-wing backpack, with the "fingers" sticking up appropriately as mock beam saber hilts. I then removed the bats ears, and with epoxy putty, made, what I thought, the ears might look like folded up (in order to get the Gundam's chest intakes). On the arms, I made the shoulder blocks from putty, and cut off Primal's fist spikes. His gun is a modified HG Gundam kit's and the shield was made from a shield of another kit I had.
Painting
I used Gunze Sangyo's Gundam Blue and Red as well as their
Phantom Grey for the wings and Arms Grey for the hands, joints
and gun. Yellow and white are basic colors. Details lines are
done, as usual, with a Gundam marker. I also added a black
wash to the furry areas.
Sadly he can no longer transform, but could in character. The yellow intakes would fold out to be his ears, then he transform just like Primal, but with the shield becoming his underside. Yes people this would be one hideously colored bat!
