You alone have
broken the skin
that protects my
heart.
You have exposed me
raw to the world
and with tender
care taught me 
what love can be.
Changed my idea
from one of sorrow
to one of heart.
Now you care for me
more than I ever
cared for myself.
Yet, you don't 
see the heroics
you committed
in the saving 
my soul.
I see your selflessness
in your eyes 
during the nights 
when I cry for a reason
I cannot even give.
My silent guardian
with forgiving love
and has held
his prize for 
evermore.
