T'Pau
High ranking Vulcan official. T'Pau, who was the only person ever to turn down a seat on the Federation Council, presided over Spock's near-wedding in 2267. In 2373, Voyager's Emergency Medical Hologram incorporated segments of T'Pau's personality into his personality-improvement program.

T'Pring
Vulcan woman who was telepathically bonded to Spock when they were both seven years old. at their marriage ceremony in 2267, she rejected Spock and selected Captain Kirk as her champion, forcing the two men to fight for her possession. She had chosen Kirk, knowing that Spock would release her for making the challenge and that Kirk would not want her, so that she would be free to choose Stonn as her consort. T'Pring explained that Spock had become something of a legend among her people, and that she did not wish to be the consort of a legend, preferring Stonn.

Tuvok

Security officer on the USS Voyager. Tuvok taught at Starfleet Academy for 16 years. He was married in 2304 to T'Pel. Tuvok and T'Pel had four children, three sons and a daughter. At home on Vulcan Tuvok was proficient at playing his Vulcan lute, a stringed instrument. He was skilled at horticulture, known for breeeding prize Vulcan orchids.
Tuvok entered Starfleet Academy in 2289 at his parents' insistence.  In 2293, he was assigned to the USS Excelsior as a junior science officer under the command of Captain Hikaru Sulu. Tuvok did not realize it at the time, but he became infected with a parisitic memory virus from fellow crewmember Dmitri Valtane. Tuvok found it difficult to accept the multicultural environment of Starfleet, prefering the controlled discipline of his own Vulcan people. Tuvok even spoke out against Captain Spock's visionary proposal of an alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Tuvok resigned from Starfleet shortly thereafter and returned to Vulcan to undergo the Kolinahr discipline, at the temple of Amonak. His studies were interupted when he underwent Pon farr and married T'Pel. After raising a family of his own, Tuvok appreciated his parents' motives for sending him to Starfleet. After a 51-year absence, Tuvok returned to Starfleet in 2349 and was assigned to the USS Wyoming.

Tuvok was once stationed at the Jupiter station sometime prior to 2371. While there, he kept in touch with Katheryn Janeway by written letters. Tuvok taught archery science for several years at the Vulcan Institute of Devensive Arts.

In 2371, Tuvok went undercover and infiltrated the Maquis, ending up on Chakotay's ship. The Maquis ship and later the Voyager were abruptly transported to the Delta Quadrant, and Tuvok returned to his regular Starfleet duties. Tuvok, who had been Katheryn Janeway's tactical officer for many years, would ordinarily have been assigned to replace Voyager's first officer, who died in the first encounter with the Caretaker. Janeway nevertheless elected to appoint Chakotay to that position in the interest of building trust with the new Maquis members of her crew. In 2371, a member of the Komar species took control of Tuvok and attempted to lead Voyager into a dark-matter nebula so that the Komar could extract the crew's neural energy. The attempt was not successful, and the alien left Tuvok's body. In 2342, Tuvok preformed a Vulcan mind-meld with confessed murderer Lon Sudor. The meld caused a neurochemical imbalance in Tuvok's brain, leading to a temporary, violent loss of emotional self-control. In 2372, Tuvok and Nelix were involved in a transporter accident that merged them at the molecular level, forming a new living being who adopted the name Tuvix. Tuvok did not exist during the two weeks that Tuvix lived.

Saavik
Starfleet officer who, as a cadet, served as navigator aboard the USS Enterprise during the Project Genesis crisis in 2285. Saavik, a Vulcan, had been mentored by Spock, who counseled her that tolerance of her human colleagues was logical. Following the Genesis crisis, Saavik, along with David Marcus, transferred to the USS Grissom for further study of the Genesis Planet. Saavik later returned to planet Vulcan. She is rumored to be half Romulan.

Sarek
Vulcan ambassador to the United Federation of Planets (2165-2368) and father to Spock. Sarek's illustrious career included the treaty of Alpha Cygnus IX, the Coridan admission to the Federation, and the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon empire.
Sarek, son of Skon and grandson of Solkar, represented his government st the Babel conference in 2267. Sarek gave his son, Spock, his first lessons in computer science, but Spock chose to devote himself to Starfleet rather than the Vulcan Science Academy. This and other differences prevented Spock and Sarek from speaking as father and son for 18 years. Being 102.437 years of age in 2267, Sarek had planned to retire after the Babel conference, for medical reasons.

A malfunction in one of Sarek's heart valves required Chief Surgeon McCoy to preform surgery that required a transfusion of rare type T-negative blood from his son, Spock. Sarek survived the operation, and an understanding between father and son was reached.

Following the death of his son Spock in 2285, Sarek traveled to Eart, where he asked Kirk's assistancein returning Spock's katra to planet Vulcan. Kirk was ultimately successful in recovering both Spock's katra and his regenerated body. Sarek then made a highly unusual request for a fal-tor-pon ceremony, which was successful in rejoining Spock's body and living spirit. Perhaps in gratitude for Kirk's efforts, Sarek testafied on Kirk's behalf at the Federation Council when the Klingon government attempted to extradite Kirk for his alleged crimes.

Sarek helped lay the groundwork for the historic Khitomer peace accords with the Klingon empire, sending Spock to meet Chancelor Gorkon and to open a dialog following the disastrous explosion of the Klingon moon, Praxis, in 2293.

Sarek married several times during his life. His first wife was a Vulcan princess, with whom he had a son named Sybok. Following the death of his first wife, Sarek married Amanda, a human woman, with whom he had a son named Spock. At the time of his death in 238, Sarek was married to Perrin, another human woman.

In 2266, at age 202, Ambassador Sarek concluded negotiations on a historic treaty with the Legarans. Sarek had been working on the accord for 93 years, and the treaty was the final triumph of his career. At the time of the talks, Sarek was suffering from degenerative Bendii syndrome, but the ambassador was able to maintain emotional control with the help of a mind-meld with Jean-Luc Picard. Sarek convalesced for several months while Bendii Syndrome continued to take it's toll on his emotional control. Just prior to his death, Sarek met again with Captain Picard, when Picard sought information on the unexplained sighting of Spock on Romulus.

Sarek died in his home on Vulcan in 2368 from the degenerative effects of Bendii Syndrome. He was survived by his wife, Perrin, and his son, Ambassador Spock.

Spock

Science officer aboard the original starship Enterprise under the command of Captain james T. Kirk. Born 2230 on planet Vulcan. His mother, Amanda Grayson, was a human school teacher from Earth, and his father, Sarek, was a diplomat from Vulcan. As a result, he was torn between two worlds, the stern discipline of Vulcan logic and the emotionalism of his human side. The struggle to reconcile his two halves would torment him for much of his life. Spock's Starfleet service number was S179-276 SP. As of 2267 he had earned the Vulcanian Scientific Legion of Honor, had been twice decorated by Starfleet Command, and held an A7 computer classification. His blood type was T-negative.
Childhood and Family
When he was five years old, Spock became upset because Vulcan boys had tormented him, saying he wasn't really Vulcan. As a child, Spock had a pet sehlat, sort of a live teddy bear. Spock was raised with an older half-brother, Sybok, until Sybok was ostracized from Vulcan society because he rejected the Vulcan dogma of pure logic. Spock himself endured considerable antihuman prejudice on the part of many Vulcans, an experience that may have later made it easier for Spock to find a home in the Interstellar community of Starfleet. At age seven, Spock was telepathically bonded with a young girl named T'Pring. Less than a marriage, but more than a betrothal, the telepathic touch would draw the two together when the time was right after they both came of age. Spock experienced the Pon farr, the powerful mating drive, in 2267, and he was compelled to return to Vulcan to claim T'Pring as his wife. T'Pring spurned Spock in favor of Stonn, freeing Spock. Spock's father, Sarek, had hoped his son would attend the Vulcan Science Academy, and was bitterly disappointed when Spock instead chose to join Starfleet. Spock and his fathe had not spoken as father and son for 18 years when a medical emergency drew them together.

Aboard the USS Enterprise
Spock was the first Vulcan to enlist in the Federation Starfleet, and he distinguished himself greatly as science officer aboard the original USS Enterprise. His logical Vulcan thought patterns proved of tremendous value when Spock first served aboard the Enterprise during the command of captain Christopher Pike. Under the command of James Kirk, Spock suffered infection by parasites on planet Deneva in 2267, an intensly painful experience. He survived the Denevan neural parasites after being exposed to intense electromagnetic radiation that drove the parasites from his body. Spock was briefly feared to have been blonded by the light, but it was later learned that his Vulcan inner eyelid had protected his vision. Spock was critically wounded on Tyree's planet with an ancient weapon known as a flintlock. He survived, using a Vulcan healing technique in which the mind concentrates on the injured organs. Fal Tor Pon, Mt Seleya, Priestess T'LarFollowing the conclusion of Kirk's five-year mission Spock retired from Starfleet, returning to Vulcan to pursuethe Kolinahr discipline. Although he completed the training, intended to purge all remaining emotion, Spock nonetheless failed to achieve Kolinahr because his emotions were stirred by the V'Ger entity in 2271. Spock subsequently remained with Starfleet and was eventually promoted to Enterprise captain when that ship was assigned as a training vessel at Starfleet Academy. Spock was killed in 2285 while saving the Enterprise fron the detonation of the Genesis Device by Kahn Noonian Singh. His body was consigned to space, but unknown to anyone at that time, his casket landed on the Genesis planet. Although beleived dead at the time, Spock had, just prior to his death, mind-melded with McCoy. Spock had apparently intended for his friend to return Spock's katra to Vulcan in accordance with Vulcan custom. The presence of Spock's living spirit in McCoy's mind was later found to be an extraordinary oppertunity to reunite Spock's body and spirit when his body was found to have been regenerated on the Genesis Planet. The fal-tor-pon (refusion) process was conducted on Mount Seleya on Vulcan, supervised by high priestess T'Lar. Later, Spock went through several months of re-education, during which his mind was instructed in the Vulcan way, but his mother, Amanda, was concerned that he regain knowledge of his human heritage as well. Spock elected to return to Earhth with his shipmates from the Enterprise to face charges stemming from Kirk's violation of Starfleet regulations in Spock's rescue.

Later Career
In later years, Spock's work became more diplomatic than scientific, even while he was still part of Starfleet. At the request of Ambassador Sarek, Spock served as special envoy to the Klingon government in 2293, paving the way for the Khitomer peace accords with Chancellor Azetbur. In 2368, Spock secretly traveled to Romulus, on a personal mission to further the cause of Romulan-Vulcan re-unification. Spock's disappearance caused great consternation among Federation authorities, and the Enterprise-D was dispatched to determine his whereabouts and intentions. Spock's contact on Romulus was Senator Pardek, who was believed to have met Spock during the Khitomer conference in 2293. Pardek was later learned to be an agent of the conservative Romulan government, seeking to use Spock's inititave to cover an attempted Romulan invasion of Vulcan. Following the attempted invasion, Spock chose to remain on Romulus in hopes of furthering the cause of re-unification. Spock continued his activities in the Romulan underground, and in 2369 helped arrange the defection of Romulan Vice-Proconsul M'Ret to the Federation. Spock indicated he beleived the escape of M'Ret would help establish an escape route for other Romulan dissidents who lived in fear of their lives. Following the death of his father, Spock had one final, unexpected encounter with Sarek. Prior to his death, Sarek had mind-melded with Jean-Luc Picard, sharing with Picard his deepest emotions, unclouded by Vulcan logic. On Romulus, Picard allowed Spock to mind-meld with him, and Spock finally came to know of his father's love for him.

Valeris

Though the practice of logic, truth, and pacifism is quintessentially Vulcan, it was a Vulcan, Valeris, who worked as an operative, disrupting the landmark Khitomer peace conference that would have resulted in a Federation/Klingon peace treaty. Factions within the Federation and Klingon Empire were worried that a lasting peace between the Klingons and the Federation would compromise the stability of the Alpha Quadrant.
Valeris had been mentored by Spock, and was the first Vulcan to graduate at the top of her class at Starfleet Academy. Although fiercely logical, Valeris feared the changes that would be wrought when a new era of peace came upon the Federation. She was arrested at the Khitomer peace conference for her role in the assassination of Gorkon.
Valeris repeatedly lied to cover up evidence of her involvement in the sabotage of the peace conference, and only after a mind-meld did Spock forced the truth out of his traitorous protege.
History would remember the Khitomer Conference of 2293 as the single most important peace accord in Federation chronicles.

Surak

Father of Vulcan philosophy, a man of peace and logic who helped lead his people out of a period of devestating wars, some two thousand years ago, when his people were ruled by violent passions. A replica of Surak was created by the Excalbians in 2269 as part of their attempt to study the human concept of "good" and "evil." Surak led his people during what became known as the Time of Awakening; his philosophies of peace and logic helped prevent his people from being destroyed by the Stone of Gol in a terrible civil war.
