• Obvious pointed ears and converging eyebrows
• Great physical strength and endurance
• Vulcan eyes have a clear second eyelid or nictating membrane
• Vulcan eyes observe lower frequency bandwidth of light, including the infrared spectrum
• Vulcan nose is highly efficient at filtering breathable oxygen
• Vulcan ears are capable of hearing sounds at great distance in dry conditions.
• Their lungs are larger than humans, the alveoli 75% more efficient at the exchange of gases.
• Vulcan hearts are located where human liver is found
• Heart beat is normal at 232 times per minute
• The circulated blood is copper based, therefore green
• The kidneys and excretory systems function with absolute efficiency to retain water and nutrients
• Vulcan hormonal glands are ductless and completely voluntary, giving Vulcans superb control over body functions
• The one exception to bodily control is the reproductive organs (see Ponfarr)
• The only other loss of control is where Vulcan has Bendii Syndrome (see below)

Bendii Syndrome

A rare usually fatal disease that afflicts Vulcans over the age of 200, debilitating their emotional control; there is no known treatment. Early symptoms include sudden bursts of emotion, especially irrational anger, but the only way to prove a diagnosis is to grow a culture from tissue of the metathalamus -- a process which takes several days. TThe telepathic abilities of Vulcans are strong enough to cause the loss of control to be projected onto others. Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan died of it on stardate 45245, in 2368.
