The Royal Café

She sips the Tequila Sunset cocktail

through a long pink straw

And gazes at he open door

The marbled clock

Chimes out the hour of three

As the hot sun shines through

The open window lighting up her golden hair

And the time..  Ticks by.  So..  Slow

The waiter brings another drink

She lights another cigarette

And starts to think

Did he say.. Meet me in the Royal Café?

Was it today or was it yesterday

He said he'd come?

Her fingers now begin

To tap out a gentle rhythm

On the frosted glass

And another hour has passed

Perhaps he couldn't get away

To meet her on this sunny day.

She sees him now through the open door

And gently he takes her into his arms once more

She smiles,  and shyly blushes to his charms

And once again they are secret lovers as before.

And yes… It was today,  he said...

Meet me in The Royal. Café
