The Seasons
(Winter)
Autumn now bids us
goodbye
Where, once, pale
blue skies
Echoed the blue of
my lover’s eyes
Now winter, holds
us in its deathly grip
Dark mornings
afternoons and days
The pale autumn sun
is missed
In so many ways
Howling winds
That Freeze the
soul
To chill the bones
is winters goal
Frozen ice that
crackles underfoot
Belching chimneys
of dark black soot
Icy fog to freeze
your fingers and toes
Jack Frost to bite
your chin and nose
Winter, now bleeds
us white
Like frozen empty
corpses
Where night is day
and day is night
Christmas waits
with baited breath
As the old year
staggers to its death
And once more
mother earth
Waits patiently for
rebirth
