Stories From Other Sources
- Introduction
"These
stories have been taken from other sources, such as Internet sites, other
books etc. Our purpose to keep them here is not to copy them here, but to
keep them all at one place without losing them, as it is very common with
Internet sites that they disappear within no time. This site lists 6
stories in all.
3-Three
Special Braahman
Once
upon a time there lived a Braahman named Vishnuswaamee who was performing
a large sacrifice. He had three special sons who were very good at three
things - the first one was good at food, the second one was good at women,
and the third one was good at beds. Vishnuswaamee wanted a tortoise for
his sacrifice so he sent this three sons to bring one for him. All of them
did get one but they could not even touch it as each of them claimed more
sensitive than others.
Now,
to decide that who was most sensitive than others, they went to the King.
King took their test. He got prepared several types of food and invited
the first son to have food, but he wouldn't even touch it. On asked he
told him that his rice smelling bed. He smelt burnt corpses in it, that is
why he cannot even touch it. The king was amazed to hear this. He found
out that his rice came from a field which was near a cremation ground. The
king was very impressed.
Now he
decided to test the second son. He sent a very beautiful prostitute to
him, but he sent her away saying that she was smelling like a goat. When
King asked his men to find out the secret of this they told him that she
drank goat milk when she was a child. The king was also impressed with
this boy.
Now
the turn was of the third son. The King made a bed of seven huge
mattresses and let him sleep on them. The boy slept, but he woke up in the
middle of the night with a lot of pain and red mark on his shoulder. On
checking a small piece of hair was found below the seven mattresses.
The
King was very impressed with this boy also, but could not decide that who
was the most sensitive. But he had decided to use their qualities in his
court and employed them in his court. And Vishnuswaamee could not complete
his sacifice.
Vaitaal
stopped here and asked Vikram - "Now tell me who was the most
sensitive boy among the three?" Vikram thought for a while and said -
"The third boy, because he had the clear evidence of his
sensitiveness - the red mark on his body while others could have got that
information from other also.."
As
soon as Vikram finished his answer, Vaitaal ran away and hung on the same
tree upside down.
