Stories From Other Sources
- Introduction
"These
stories have been taken from other sources, such as Internet sites, other
books etc. Our purpose to keep them here is not to copy them here, but to
keep them all at one place without losing them, as it is very common with
Internet sites that they disappear within no time. This site lists 6
stories in all.
5-Four
Boys Who Made a Lion
There
lived a Braahman who had four sons. He taught them all Ved, Shaastra and
holy scriptures. After some time the Braahman and his wife died, so they
went to their maternal uncle's (Mother's brother) place to live there.
They found that were not welcomed there and their cousins did not treat
them well. So they decided to learn some special skills and come back and
meet after a whie at one place.
They
went away, wandered around, learned special skills and came to meet at the
fixed place at the fixed time. They asked each other as what did he learn
during that time. The first one said - "I can create flesh over an
animal with a single bone piece." The second one said - "If the
flesh and bones are there, then I can grow skin and hair on it." The
third one said - "Oh, If the flesh and bones are there, skin and hair
are there, I can create the limbs of that creature." The fourth one
exclaimed - "Good, Then I can make him alive."
Now
they thought to test their knowledge. So they started wandering in search
of a bone piece so that could start their experiment. While wandering thus
they came across a bone of a lion. They were so excited in testing their
knowledge that did not think anything else except o test their knowledge
on that bone.
The
first one gave it the flesh, the second one grew the hair and skin on it,
the third one created the limbs and the fourth one gave it life. As the
lion got life, he ate four of them and ran away in the forest.
Vaitaal
stopped here and asked Vikram - "Now tell me who was responsible for
the death of all four?" Vikram pondered a little and said - "The
fourth one, as only he gave the life to the lion. If he did not make him
alive, all were safe, because without life he was still a dead
structure."
As
soon as Vikram finished his answer, Vaitaal ran away and hung on the same
tree upside down.
