Captain Dobey remembers...........
I got these two straight out of the academy.
One an uptight, quiet, rather sullen blonde from the midwest........
the other........a whirlwind of energy, a rambunctious and irreverent curly haired transplanted New Yorker.
No two men would hve appeared to be more opposites...............
The way they looked, dressed, talked, the cars that they drove, even the foods they ate........like night and day yet their minds
and hearts seemed to beat as one.........always have.
After two years of probation working with other senior officers they kept at me until I paired them up as a team and life at this
precinct would never be the same again.
But from that day on I had the best detective team that a Captain could hope for.
They called themselves the "Me and Thee" team.
Was that really such a long time ago, right now as we kept up a constant and desperate vigil in Memorial Hospital it seemed
like a lifetime ago.
................Live David.........live, because if we lose you we will lose your partner too. Hutch will fall apart.
These two had been the center of each others existence for what seemed like forever and I wasn't sure if one could or would
function without the other.
They had forged a friendship that I have never seen the likes of before or since, and it could all end tonight.
Hutch was unapprochable, he had closed himself off from the rest of the world. It had stopped for him.
The only thing that existed for him now was the man lying still in the small ICU cubicle.
He spoke to no one but his friend's Doctors and nurses.
His face was a mask of total lose and despair. My heart broke for "My Boys". One week later the world started up again for
one Kenneth Hutchinson........Starsky had come out of his coma and had recognized his partner and we all dared to hope
again.
Hutch held the limp but warm hand of his partner in his two hands and in that room two hearts beat as one again.
The End
