The original railway opened on the DLR in 1987 with 15 stations including Canary Wharf, opened in 1991 but West India Quay closed due to reconstruction of North Quay junction. West India Quay reopened on 28 June 1993.The extension to Bank opened on 29 July 1991, providing a key connection with London Underground services. The Beckton extension, incorporating 10 new stations opened in March 1994 with Canning Town opened in March 1998. From November of 1999 there were five new stations opened on the Lewisham extension Total on completion of construction - 34
