The Trial
Xel, Fey, and Jeon rode to the far east city of Talaboa, in the country of Ressa. Xel had been attacked while at Fey's farm earlier that month. The offenders had on them a letter indicating their objective: to kill Xel, take his military papers, valuables, and amulet, and return to Zrikon Base, which is on the outskirts of Talaboa.
The three asked around town for the whereabouts of Zrikon. After many futiles attempts, Xel finally found someone who knew. Xel, Fey, and Jeon armed themselves, and headed for Zrikon. They walked up to an Akar guard, and asked to be taken to his leader.
The armed guard swiftly pointed his rifle at Xel. "What is your business here?" Xel casually put his hand on the rifle. "We'd like to see your leader." The guard pointed to a sign. "No visitors allowed." Xel glanced at Jeon. "I'm sure you'll make an exception for us." Jeon kicked the guards rifle, and Xel jerked it away. He tossed it, pulled out Sidewinder, and pointed it to the guards head. "Take us to your leader."
The guard led the three inside. They were led through many passages, and finally reached a large door. Xel poked Sidewinder at the guard's head. "This is it, I assume?" The guard nodded his head nervously. Xel smiled. "Right, we won't be needing you anymore." Xel jabbed the guard's gut, knocking him unconcious.
Fey tapped Xel's shoulder. "Well, Xel, look's like we're finally here." Xel grinned. "Yeah, now we find out why these creeps attacked us." Fey leapt up and kissed his cheek. "Kiss for luck." Xel leaned back and smiled. He noticed Jeon standing behind Fey, restraining himself.
Xel quickly composed himself. "Right, let's go!" Jeon opened the door, and the three stormed inside, only to find a Zeyan. "You must be Xel. I've been expecting you. I read it in the stars." Xel and Jeon pointed their guns at the Zeyan's head. "Screw the stars. Why'd you send your flunkies to attack us?"
The Zeyan sat down. "Sit down, please. I am Noah, a Zeyan from the city of Ark. I have been researching magical artifacts, the ancient Legacy Relics of old, and the mysteries of Astrology. You see, I can read the future in the stars now, and I've been meaning to add to my power. Your amulet holds the key to a truly great elemental power."
Xel raised his eyebrow. "Really. I've had this amulet forever, and never felt a 'great elemental power'." Noah stood up, and walked over to Xel. He set his hand upon Xel's shoulder, who quickly jerked back and pointed Sidewinder at Noah's head. "We don't have time for games, old man."
Noah smiled. "I don't either. Your amulet isn't any old amulet. It is the lost Kiranja, amulet of thunder! You cannot harness its powers, so I may as well take it, in the name of Adori Konaia!" Noah brought up his palms. Xel began to feel drowsy. "Kiranja!? That's been lost for... Hey, what's...going on? What kind of...sorcery is this?" He heard a thump behind him. Looking back, he noticed Fey on the floor. "Why...you..." Thump. Jeon had fallen. Xel's eyes became heavy, and he fell with a thump to the floor.
