Yana's Story

Yana ran faster and faster, continually trying to outrun her pursuer. Around a corner, down a slide, up a ladder, through a building, it didn't matter. Her pursuer continuted to chase her. It has been four years since this pursuer has been chasing her, but ten years since she became one of the hunted in Kiezre. Her parents had been killed in the awful conflict between Astonia and Kiezre, a conflict incited by Adori Konaia, the Dark Lord.

Yana had few possessions. Among these included a precious flute belonging to her mother, a silver flute embedded with a sparkling crimson ruby. Yana played it to to bring peace to herself, and to the surrounding around her.

For now, Yana ran, and ran, ran, ran, trying to escape her long pursuer, the same pursuer who had chased her for five long, strenuous years of pain. She turned at the corner, trying to distance herself. Her breathing was hard, inhaling and exhaling. It was all she could do to keep going.

"Yana Kimona! Keep on running for the great Rojima Knavi! You'll be caught soon enough!" Yana kept running, and she could hear less and less of her pursuer's footsteps. She spotted a small alcove, and ducked into it. Her breathing calmed, becoming softer and slower.

"He's gone, finally!" Yana peeked around the corner. No one was there. She left the small alcove she had hidden in, and walked away, whe suddenly, two giant silhouettes grabbed her. "EEEE-!" They muffled Yana's mouth. She heard a radio click. "We've secured the target. Returning to base." Yana struggled, but their strength easily overpowered her.

"Yana!" Yana recognized the voice. The two men turned. The seemingly dominant male spoke. "It's that man, Rojima Knavi. Stay here and take care of him; I'll deliver the package to Lieutenant Naoip." Yana perceived a low, deep voice from the man. He's a human, she thought.

"Let me go!" Yana tried to yell through the thick cloth wrapped around her lips. Yana struggled some more, then felt a sharp needle pierce her skin. She began to feel faint, and passed out.

She woke up out of what seemed like an eternal slumber. She wiped her eyes. It suddenly hit her; she wasn't tied up! She wasn't muffled either, but she couldn't see anything. "Help me! Somebody! Help!"

A brilliant flash of light flooded her senses as millions of tiny lights flashed on. She was in a large warehouse filled with crates, but with nobody in sight. "Whose there? Let me go! Show yourself!" She sat in anticipation, expecting someone, anyone, to come out. No one came out.

Yana sighed, and got up. She walked around the warehouse, looking for a way out. She turned a corner of crates, and bumped into a large figure. She let loose a high shriek, startling the figure. Yana turned to run, but the figure grabbed her and lifted her into the air.

Yana shut her eyes tightly, assuming something painful would happen. Yana felt her feet touch the floor, and slowly eased her eyes open. She gasped. "You're that guy! Ropika Gnati!" He smiled. "It's Rojima Knavi. I'm glad I finally caught you!"

Yana was confused. "What happened to the men who kidnapped me?" Rojima grinned. "I took care of them." "How?" "That's a story I'll leave to another time." "Why do you keep chasing me?" He shook his head. "I can't tell you that yet. Eventaully, you will discover the reason for yourself." Yana cocked an eyebrow. He pointed beyond her. "The door is over there. There's the exit."

Yana became even more puzzled than before. "I'm confused. Why are you letting me go? You've chased me for four years! What's going on?" Rojima turned around, and began to stroll away. "You'll find out soon enough. For now, just keep running. That's all I can tell you. Don't ever let me or anyone else catch you again!"

Lieutenant Pei Naoip paced around his office. He began to devise more and more strategies to catch the ever elusive Yana Kimona. She was always running. Why? He needed to figure that out. A mysterious black robed figure entered the room.

"Lieutenant Naoip. Master Konaia is very displeased." Naoip shook his head. "I understand." The robed figure approached the lieutenant. "An intelligent Zeyan such as yourself should be able to figure out how to capture one measly teenage Human. The Adori will not tolerate more failures. More mistakes could cost you your life." Naoip slammed his fist. "She will be caught."
